chanter_greenie: a Pringles can with the words 'you can't write just one' written across it (drabbles are like pringles)

Hi all. I frankly forget if I've made an introduction post or not, and if I haven't, eep! Sorry about that. I'm Chanter, she who writes the orange!verse of [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's Schrodinger's Heroes project, among other (generally quite Wisconsin author-y) things.

I've been debating a little self-promotion beyond my own journal for a while, but hesitating - see subject line. Tonight I figured I might as well take the plunge, so here we go. If I've pulled an illegal maneuver by doing this, I'll take no offense to someone hitting the delete post button.

Everything beyond the jump is currently available for sponsorship. Much of it is orange!verse work, but one or two pieces are unrelated to that project.

Splashdown! Chanter's available fics beneath the snip. )

I know, I posted about this already. I hope it's okay to repost. I don't plan on spamming these communities. I just wanted to try asking one more time. There are some updates and stuff.

The Goblins Card Game Kickstarter is going along very nicely. Already triple funded. I hear they're considering adding some new rewards (digital goodies and stuff for even the lower tiers), but we'll have to see how that goes.

Here's the thing: If they can hit 4000 backers, they'll send Thunt, the author of Goblins, to NY ComicCon. Thunt is a very cool guy. I'm lucky to be able to call him a friend. But he lives all the way up near Vancouver, 3000 miles away. I don't get to see him often. (Disabilities + Internet = awesome friends around the globe + very little chance to hang out with any of them in person.) If you can help the project hit 4000 backers (by chipping in even just a dollar or two, and maybe asking friends who can spare it to do the same), you'll be doing me a personal favor.

I should also mention that the game, which looks like a lot of fun, is explained better now. There's a new video on the Kickstarter page, under "description of gameplay." Evertide Games is still fairly new at this Kickstarter thing, but they're listening to the fans and responding. And they've clearly put a lot of love and meticulous care into the game. Not just in keeping it true to the comic, but in striving to create a game that will be so fun to play on its own merits that it will be able to draw in new fans and readers.

So check it out. If you haven't already, give Goblins Comic a look. It's an engaging story with a wide cast of developed characters and a good blend of humor, action, drama, and strong character moments.

Hello everyone! I'm an independent author/artist working on a couple of projects that I'd like to self-publish and crowd-fund. My hope is that I can get enough people interested in my current project (a novel, To Dream, Perchance to Soar) through word of mouth and friend recommendations that it can take on a life of its own and soar into the world. ^^

The crowd-funding part comes in here: I have several more short stories I've worked on over the years, and I'm hoping to either turn them into a second book, or publish them singly for cheap on the various e-book stores. It will really depend on how much success Soar has.

Through next Saturday (January 21st) I'm offering a freebie to subscribers and members of this community. Just email me with your username (so I can verify) and your format preference (mobi or epub) and I'll send you a free e-book copy of Soar. ^^ The address is soar at

I have an artist page on DeviantArt for my more visual art, though I'm not trying to sell it yet.

I'm interested in everyone else's creative projects, too!

Thanks for listening!
ysabetwordsmith: Text -- three weeks for dreamwidth, in pink (three weeks for dreamwidth)
[personal profile] ysabetwordsmith
Dreamwidth is doing an activity to boost posts, starting on Monday, called "Three Weeks for Dreamwidth."  The idea is to have a new post every day that will -- at least for a while -- be visible only on DW.  I think it would be fun, and might help attract new members, for this community to participate.  Some possibilities ...

1) Post about yourself, like reprising an introduction.

2) Link to a crowfunding project that you produce or donate to.

3) Post a question that you think would start an interesting discussion about crowdfunding.

4) We could do a friending meme here in hopes of connecting members to each other.

Do you have any more ideas?

There are icons and banners for 3WFDW.  Using the tag "three weeks for dreamwidth" should pipe the posts into a stream where people can see all the stuff being written for this activity.  That's a good way to get attention, so let's make the most of it.

Recently [personal profile] ariestess mentioned having an Etsy shop for crowdfunded crafts.  I've added that to the community's Links list.

Does anyone else have a project that you would like to have listed?  It should have a landing page, intro post, or tag page so that people will be able to get a good grasp of the project as a whole, rather than linking to an individual day's activity.  Frex, if you go to [personal profile] wonder_city there's an intro post that's future-dated so it floats above the recent posts.  For tips on how to design an effective landing page, if you don't already have one, see the post on "5 Steps to Crowdfunding Success."
