It's time to discuss plans for the 2017 Rose & Bay Award season.  Check out the 2017 Landing Page.  Full details for the project appear on the landing page; you can ask here if you have any additional questions.

The categories are: Art, Fiction, Poetry, Webcomic, Other Project, and Patron.  These need volunteers to manage them, preferably someone who isn't eligible for nomination in that category.  This year I could be nominated for Fiction, Poetry, and Patron so those areas have the highest need for someone else to cover them.  Look on the landing page for details about becoming a category manager; it's pretty straightforward.

Nominations will be open from January 1-31, 2017 for crowdfunding projects active in 2018.  If that's you, please check your project to make sure it's clearly marked as crowdfunded, and give your audience some advance notice of this award.  If you've been running a free project and want to get involved, you still have plenty of time to post a tip jar for it or run a special paid session, etc. -- any kind of monetizing method is eligible.

Voting will be open from February 1-28, 2017.

Everyone can help by spreading the word about this award.  Post in blogs, communities, hub sites, etc. -- anywhere you think folks would like hearing about a crowdfunding award.

Nominations are now OPEN for the 2015 Rose and Bay Awards.

The Rose and Bay Award was launched by [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith (Elizabeth Barrette) in January 2009, and quickly gained additional volunteers.  This award focuses on a growing business model known as "crowdfunding" or "cyberfunded creativity," which directly connects creative people and patrons of the arts online.  This award recognizes exemplary projects and enthusiastic patrons.  It currently features six categories: Art, Fiction, Poetry, Webcomic, Other Project, and Patron.  (Other Project includes any cyberfunded creativity that isn't art, fiction, poetry, or webcomic -- or that spans more than one category -- such as movies, music, etc.)

The award period for eligible activities spans January 1-December 31, 2014.
The nomination period spans January 1-January 31, 2015.
The voting period spans February 1-February 28, 2015.

Everyone can help by promoting the award.  Post about it on blogs, communities, hub sites, etc. -- wherever you think folks would be interested in a crowdfunding award.

The WSFA small press awards are open for nominations; the rules are over here:

http://wsfasmallpressaward.org/The_Rules.php

I know many of our crowdfunded things are not eligible, being self-published, but I know some publishers have used Kickstarter or other crowdfunding methods to stay open or get started, an h believe those, or most of those, are eligible. Also, many of us pursue botn crowdfunding and traditional publishing. Many of us may have both work that is eligible and work that is not.

Good luck to anyone who is nominated or who nominates themselves!

Submission Deadline: 5 April 2013.
