Three Weeks for Dreamwidth is a celebration of the platform's anniversary, running April 25-May 15. During this time, people post content only visible on Dreamwidth (although it can be reposted elsewhere after the event ends). There's usually a flurry of activity as bloggers share anchor posts, new fiction, icons, banners, questionnaires, friending fests, memes, and other goodies. Community hosts often hold special activities in their communities too. Watch your reading page for more festivities.

Are you posting about crowdfunding? You can crosspost those entries here. Are you doing anything for Three Weeks in your blog or other community? Post a comment about that to attract more readers. Follow the Threeweeks feed. See my 2024 Questionnaire and a list of other thematic questionnaires.

Nominations are now OPEN for the Patron category of the Rose & Bay Award. This award honors excellence in creative crowdfunding, and this category recognizes the people who support projects financially, among other ways. Everyone is encouraged to make nominations and, later, to vote. Icons and banners are available to help spread the word. Please read the complete details below, and then make your nominations in a comment under this post.

Note: A project or person which wins one year is not eligible in the same category for the next year. After that, it is eligible again. In 2024, for the Patron category, [personal profile] librarygeek for the Poetry Fishbowl won, thus neither are eligible this year.

There is a four-way tie in the Other Project category, so there will a runoff vote. The voting

I'm funding more coloring books on Kickstarter! We've gotten to our first two goals, so Fishtank Fantasies and Equine Enchantment are happening, but I have five more I'd love to put in print. Rewards also include very rare PDF files, something I only release during Kickstarters. Because we've fully funded in Kickstarter's eyes, I am also accepting off-site payments towards our stretch goals, so if you'd rather pay with Paypal, just let me know!

I had the honor of being one of the artists in a new tarot deck being crowdfunded now, the 78 Tarot Nautical deck: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kayti/78-tarot-nautical

This is a gorgeous looking deck with some big name artists that include Larry Elmore, Selina Fenech, Jasmine Becket-Griffith, and Amy Brown. It's at 84% of its goal after just over a week, and there are some great perks and extras available.

Including a new coloring book that I've put together for it!

This coloring book, with 20 pages of tarot art for you to color, is only available through the Kickstarter as an add-on for now, but will be offered in open edition at a later date. The Kickstarter MAY be the only chance to get the PDF version, though...

Speaking of PDF versions, you can get a sea monster mini-coloring book PDF for as little as $2! May is Sea Monster Month at Torn World, and I am crowdfunding a half-sized coloring book. It is coming along nicely, and we just hit our goal for commercial printing AND extra pages! We're $10.10 from a free pdf of the sea monster scale chart for all supporters to print and color. http://ellenmillion.livejournal.com/1515101.html

May is Sea Monster Month at Torn World! http://tornworld.net

Every year, we celebrate a month of the big ocean dwellers in this shared world platform. You have just a few more hours to join in our kick-off Muse Fusion: http://torn-world.livejournal.com/229215.html

Bring prompts, and our artists and writers will create something just for you! Your prompts can be generic, if you aren't familiar with the setting, or specific to the Torn World monsters: http://www.tornworld.net/settingpageview.php?id=114

I'm doing a personal Sea Monster crowdfunded project - a Sea Monster Mini-Coloring Book! http://ellenmillion.livejournal.com/1515101.html

I'm making an 8-page half-sized coloring book (8.5 x 5.5) of sea monsters, both serious and silly. We've made our goal for getting a print copy - PDF copies start at just $2, and are included in every sponsorship package. Further stretch goals include more pages, bookmarks, and professional printing (which will ensure stock for future sales)!

I am promising sea monster sketches for the next 13 prompters at the Muse Fusion, so get those in swiftly!

And, the May Sketch Fest is on the calendar for May 14-16. Join us for 48 hours of creative sketching! http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/

(June's Sketch Fest is tentatively scheduled for June 12-14!)

I found a desk that will serve me much better than the old card table currently in my office, and it's beautiful and I'd love to have it--but it's expensive. So I'm offering to do card readings, writing, or art to fund the desk. I am also willing to do things like beta-read or proofread a story as a thank-you for your help, if that would be more useful to you than a reading or creative work.

The fund-raiser is here: http://wyld-dandelyon.livejournal.com/241435.html

Thank you!

Deirdre

I'd love to have you drop by.

You can request a Guide, ask a question for yourself, ask for inspiration for a creative project, ask for a reading for one of your characters, or ask for an in-character reading from my Torn World priestess, Rai-Kunabei.

Please post your requests here: New Moon One Card Draw

Tipping is very much appreciated, but not required.

Hello! I am now holding Icon Day 06 to help me raise funds to move out of my currently toxic living situation. Requests will be open until January 1, 2014. Tipping any amount over $1 will also quality you for any of the group tip incentives. :)

I've also got discounted art commissions as individual tip incentives, including 20-icon sheets, which will be counted in the tip tally. I'm also raffling off one extra icon for everybody who signal boosts, with each unique signal boost per platform counting as one entry.

If you are interested in other ways to help, please see my main page for my Moving Out Fundraiser.

Every dollar helps me get one step closer to moving out and healing. Thank you so much, and please spread the word!

Have an original role playing character, or an original fiction character that you would like to see realized in a drawing?

I am now open on [livejournal.com profile] silverflameart for discounted commissioned digital bust portraits of your original characters.  This is great for other crowdfunders or aspiring authors who want to see their creations brought to life visually.

I offer three different options:

  1. Black and white--$15

  2. Comic style--$30

  3. Painterly--$50

Click the images to see them full-sized.

Good morning, friends and SilverFlame Art supporters!  Amyla here.  Last week was quite a time, getting things ready for the new crowdfunding art blog!  It feels wonderful to be getting back into the swing of things again.  Anyway, it's Monday, which means that I am opening for $5 sketch prompts from now until 5 p.m. CST.  This is a weekly event on the new [livejournal.com profile] silverflameart blog--$5 Sketch Day.

The concept is simple:  Leave a prompt in the comments, a short description of something you'd like to see me sketch.  Use the payment button at the bottom of the entry on my blog to pay, and I'll post your sketch both in a reply to you in the comments and in a personal message, where I will link you to the full-sized file.

Also, the first three prompts are free!

So, come on by and leave your prompts!  Please be sure to read the info on the blog post carefully before requesting.

Hello to all you lovely people!  Amyla here.  Some of you may recognize me from a few years ago, when I ran a crowdfunding blog on LiveJournal under the title of shadows_gallery.

And then life happened.  Needing money, I moved for a non-creative job to a very isolated area with spotty internet connection, so I stopped posting very much.  Though the area was fantastically beautiful-- it was near Yosemite National Park, one of the most beautiful places in the country, I feel-- the physically exhausting nature of the job and the remote location made it very difficult to keep working with cyber-based creativity.  Then I became quite ill and spent about a month in the hospital, before returning to Texas to recover.  Very soon after returning to Texas, I found myself caring full time for a relative with Alzheimer's while dealing with my own continuing health issues.  I did my best to keep working with the art, and near the end of last year, I decided to repackage my artistic endeavors under the name SilverFlame Graphics.  I built a site that was to be the centralized hub for my crowdfunded projects, which attracted a plethora of spammers but no real traffic, so I took it down again recently.

Things are changing again.  The beloved relative suffering from Alzheimer's has recently passed into the next world, and though she will be missed, I am relieved that she no longer bears that burden.  I'm still dealing with my own health issues, but I see some hope that they will be taken care of now that some new diagnoses have been made.  I've decided it's time to ressurect SilverFlame Graphics.  I will probably be re-building a static gallery site soon, but I am primarily going to be using LiveJournal as the central crowdfunding hub, as I feel it is more accessible to users. As such, I've built a community, [livejournal.com profile] silverflameart, to be the new home of my crowdfunding endeavors.  I invite you all to add the community to your feeds so you can keep up to date with projects, events, and works in progress.

I hope to run an exciting and interactive community here, resuming some of my more popular events such as Sketch Days, Character Art Days, prize drawings, and voting on which digital painting projects I should next undertake.  I am also thinking on adding in some new events, such as a Fic Contest with winners receiving custom illustrations based on their stories.  I will also be creating finished digital paintings funded by a crowdfunding pool.

I hope to see many of you there!

Amyla

[livejournal.com profile] ysabetwordsmith has invited me to not only post here about my current crowdfund project, REDEEMER, but also to link to a couple of recent crowdfunding posts I've done, including The 10% Problem and what makes crowdfunding tick for me.

REDEEMER itself is an urban fantasy set in 1945 (this is your grandma's urban fantasy!): As monsters follow the boys home from WW2, Rosie Ransom learns she can redeem a damned soul--but will she lose her own in the process?

The war is over...but for Rosie the Redeemer, the homefront battle is just about to begin!

It's July 1945, and handsome young soldier Johnathon Goode is home from the war. Reportedly shattered by his experiences, he takes a night shift job at the local factory. It's no surprise that the girls there are smitten with the handsome young soldier, but as they start to leave their jobs--and no forwarding addresses--Rosie Ransom begins to suspect there's more to Johnny's homecoming than believed.

When Johnny tries to turn a vampiric bite on her, Rosie kills him in self defense--and sees his soul, pure and uncorrupted, rise into the ether. Within hours, she's approached by handsome, dangerous Hank Turner, who believes her to be a Redeemer--a rare talent who can save a lost soul even after demonic possession has taken place.

Rosie, facing the loss of her factory job as men--and her fiance Rich Thompson--come home from the war, is eager for any future that grants her the independence she's come to cherish as a working woman. If there are monsters to slay, she'll embrace the opportunity. Because without Rosie's help, the scare started by Johnny may turn into a full-fledged nightmare...

Teaser chapters are available here and the Kickstarter (which crossed the funding threshold while I was typing this!!!) is is right here: The Redeemer Chronicles! :)

[livejournal.com profile] djinni suggested I check this community out. It's awesome! When I have time, I'm going to go poke through all the backposts, because it looks like there's loads of info here.

I am running my first campaign, a very tiny one, to raise funds to get a microphone for my puppet show. The main goal is $30. The links and details are here:
http://mrbumblepants.livejournal.com/15395.html

If you have suggestions for how to improve my campaign, I'd be excited to hear them!

Edit: Somehow the whole campaign got funded! I'm totally amazed, wow.
[identity profile] moonwolf1988.livejournal.com
I'm not certain if anyone else has seen it, but when I edited my tip jar today I saw this: Note: This button is intended for fundraising. If you are not raising money for a cause, please choose another option. Not-for-profit organisations must verify their status to withdraw the donations they receive. Users that are not verified not-for-profit organisations must demonstrate how their donations will be used, once they raise more than $10,000 USD.

Maybe it's time for them to create a crowdfunding button, for those of us who do use them, because there is no other option for permitting people to give what they want. Fortunately I think it's going to be a very long time before I reach it - I just know there are other people who might much quicker than I do, so I wanted to warn everyone, as I don't remember seeing anything about this here.
