Hi there

We are trying to promote Rue16, a new anonymous social network. This is a place where you can create new blogs, communities, magazines, albums, diaries, sketches etc. Whatever your creativity guides you to create will hopefully have a place there, if you help us build the community to support it.

You get to control exactly who sees your posts. Choose friends based on common interests. Share pictures, videos and ideas with others who think just like you knowing that your material is your property and yours alone. Allow yourself to be whoever you really are without having to conform to the sometimes constricting expectations of your real life.

Our website is now open and accepting beta testers. Join us and become one of the first founding members of rue 16, a virtual network for a virtual you.
http://rue16.com/

Please, do not hesitate to pass on the word. Any suggestions you may wish to make about new facilities that you'll like us to add to our product, things that aren't working as well as they should, general appearance, etc, will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers! :)

Informational link for those interested, though this is full of legalese and I haven't had a chance to parse my way through more than the first couple of paragraphs yet:

SEC Proposes Crowdfunding Rules

I don't know that these would apply to small, individual crowdfunders, but thought it would be important to keep abreast of changes on the larger scale of crowdfunding as well.

It would be nice to have good news for a chance, but right now it feels like James and I are stuck in a very big hole with no way out. He had an ultrasound on Wednesday, which didn't show anything unusual, and yet he's still in massive amounts of pain (yesterday was awful), which is making him depressed, he's having trouble with his appetite, and everything is worrying him. We don't know when he'll be able to get back to work and that's not helping. A couple of days ago he was scared he might lose his job because he's been off for so long and then yesterday he was worried he wouldn't be able to work again because the pain isn't fading.

For those who might be interested the specialist - a urologist - said it was prostititus. Hence the antibiotics. It wasn't until after the ultrasound that I thought to look it up and now I'm a little worried too. There's a 25% chance the antibiotics won't work and that's if it is caused by an infection.  If it isn't... Basically we need to wait until Tuesday, when James has another appointment with the urologist, to see what he says, because I am desperately hoping there's something else that can be done. According to what I read he may need to be on the antibiotics longer, but as they aren't working very well now I just don't know if that's going to do any good.

To add to everything next month is September and, as we're on a four weekly payment schedule, we'll be paying the rent twice. That means we'll be paying nearly £800 in rent. James' sick pay doesn't cover £380. So what I need right now is help. If you have anything to spare, please toss it into the tip jar at my website, and if you don't every signal boost is appreciated. I'm starting my blog tour this month, so hopefully that will help too.

It's just over a week until rent day and it looks like James will be off work for another week at the very least. He has an ultrasound on the 31st, but there are no guarantees it will tell us what's wrong, and he can't stay on antibiotics much longer, because it seems like they're making him feel unwell. That's not really a surprise after him being on them for a month and ten days, so far, and he has another twenty days to go. What I want to be able to do is help with the rent, especially as in September we have two days in the month when we pay rent (we pay every four weeks instead of monthly), so my aim is to get £100, at least, to be able to put towards the rent.

Every little really does help at the moment, because I have no idea how much longer James will be off, and the more I can put towards the rent and the groceries the better. I'm having a prompt session, beginning on the 30th of July, there's the sponsorable stories page, and I'd love to have some more people renting settings, adopting characters, and buying story bundles.

May is Sea Monster Month at Torn World, and as part of our celebration, I did 20 21 sea monster art cards, soliciting sponsorships and running a few 'pick your monster' polls along the way.

This project is a wrap! Sponsors have first dibs on these originals, and the remainder will be available for sale next week. (But not at the awesome low project price, sorry!) The full public views will continue to be posted throughout the rest of the month at the Torn World art gallery, but you can see a sneak preview above, and see a list of the cards I made here: http://ellenmillion.livejournal.com/1373367.html

We got to $146 total, which unlocked an article I'm working on (When Sea Monsters Attack!), a drawing for a free original card among sponsors (congratulations [livejournal.com profile] meeksp!), and an additional monster card, bringing our total to 21.

This project was a TON of fun. I really enjoyed it, and will be doing something like it again soon. It has helped me break out of my fear of color, and I have rediscovered my love of colored pencils in a Big way.

I'm also Kickstarting my new coloring book! It's been a wild ride so far; I'll post something more coherent later in the campaign about my crowdfunding thoughts about it. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1624616265/fantastrix-a-coloring-book-for-so-called-grown-ups

The next Sketch Fest will be June 14-16!

On Tuesday James got signed off for two weeks, given a new batch of antibiotics, and had some blood taken for tests. So far the antiobiotics don't seem to have done much, but I didn't really expect them to, because the last lot didn't work. He still has another couple of days to go, so I'm still hoping. The blood test results all came back clear, apart from the virals which we're still waiting for, so the next step is a urologist as he's already had a clear ultrasound. Not knowing what's causing the problem is the hardest part, especially as he's still in massive amounts of pain.

So that means we still don't really know how much time James is going to end up needing off. This week he'll be using his week of work sick pay, which means the rest of the time we'll be getting Statutory Sick Pay (if he's eligible), and any donations I can get will really help with paying the rent and buying groceries. One of the things I didn't mention is that I have a simple system set up for sponsoring a collection that I hope is useful and I'd love to get some interest in story bundles.

Help Needed

This isn't something I ever thought I'd have to do, but I find myself in a position where I need to desperately ask the crowdfunding community for help. Due to some medical issues it's looking more and more like James is going to have to take some time off work. As he's only been with his current job for just over a year he'll only get a weeks worth of their sick pay and Statutory Sick Pay isn't even going to cover our rent. So what I need is some money desperately in order to help cover the rent, buy groceries, and get James fuel so he can go back to work when he's feeling better.

At the moment we don't know what's wrong. It could be something simple to fix, but he's still going to need to take time off. He's had this problem for just over a month now, and the first attempt at sorting the problem with antibiotics didn't work, but that hasn't stopped him from going to work. Unfortunately it does seem like his stubborness may have affected him, because it seems like the pain he's suffering from is getting worse. It's possible, depending on what is actually wrong, that he might need surgery and if he does it seems like, due to where it will be, that he's going to be off work for a while if it does come to that.

If you have some money you can stick in my tip jar at kajoneswriting.co.uk it really would help a lot. My aim is to cover half the rent, which is £180, and be able to buy food for a month, which is around £70, for at least the next couple of months, so I'll update my income tracker to show what I need. At the moment anything will help, even if it's just signal boosting my plea for help.

Every donator will, of course, receive their perk and I have site perks that will equal more published words at my site. There are all sorts of things you can get, from character adoptions to the newly created story bundles, as I love experimenting with crowdfunding, so check it out and it's always possible to send me an email (k_a_jones at live.co.uk) if you need more information.
