This is an advance announcement for the Tuesday, February 4, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl. This time the theme will be "If the devil's nicer than the church folks, then we've got a problem." I'll be soliciting ideas for devils, angels, churchgoers, clergy, theologians, deities, children, fish out of water, historians, philosophers, ethicists, activists, heroic leads, antagonists, other people involved in theological conflicts, worshipping, praying, speaking, listening, reading, writing, summoning, banishing, discovering yourself, testing boundaries, creating connections, coming of age, learning what you can (and can't) do, shocking people, changing the world, accomplishing the impossible, recovering from setbacks, returning home, temples, churches, church clubs, spiritual study groups, seminaries, monasteries, convents, charities, finishing schools, other places of worship or spiritual socializing, etiquette, bigotry, religious abuse, clergy sexual abuse, Religious Trauma Syndrome, devil-angel relationships, devil-human relationships, tenets of belief, hypocrisy, virtues, values conflict, moral injury, betrayal, alienation, crisis of faith, rebellion, religious language, the heroic journey, liturgy, personal growth, imprint vulnerability, rites of passage, and poetic forms in particular.

Among my more relevant series for the main theme:

Clay of Life deals in Jewish folklore and religion.

Fiorenza the Wisewoman is Italian historic fantasy with Roman Catholic and Italian folk religions.

Fledgling Grace features angelic and demonic aspects as people develop bird wings.

Frankenstein's Family includes Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

One God's Story of Mid-Life Crisis is about the God of Evil becoming the God of Drunks.

Path of the Paladins presents the human impact of divine disputes.

Polychrome Heroics has characters from many different traditions. Shiv and Turq are two characters who have mentioned religious abuses. The theme can also be generalized to supervillains behaving better than superheroes or other socially approved people.

Or you can ask for something new.

I have a linkback poem "The Bushfire Shawl" (10 verses, Arts and Crafts America).

If you're interested, mark the date on your calendar, and please hold actual prompts until the "Poetry Fishbowl Open" post next week. (If you're not available that day, or you live in a time zone that makes it hard to reach me, you can leave advance prompts. I am now.) Meanwhile, if you want to help with promotion, please feel free to link back here or repost this on your blog.

This weekend through Monday evening, I am offering a public channeling and Hero's Deck reading session on my LJ, offering answers from Astarte and my oracle cards to the questions you and others may have. One question may be asked without cost, and a donation of $5 or more allows you to ask a second; Hero's Deck readings are freely offered to all. You can also PM me or post anonymously if you'd like a more private reading.

If you're curious what these sessions are like, please look through my posts under the channeling and Hero's Deck tags.

Thank you!

I posted on my blog a few days back about the new forum I put together, Beyond Flatland, and it's since evolved into something much bigger and far more creativity-oriented.

It started out as a place to discuss metaphysics and multi-dimensional experience, and while I expect that I'll be keeping that aspect of it on the forums, the main project has taken on a life of its own.  It has decided, very emphatically, that it wants to be a space for the dreams of its users to take on creative form.  When I say dreams, I don't just mean sleep-dreams, but those waking dreams, the longings, those images and feelings and people that exist only in our minds but that have a sort of life of their own, those things that resonate and breathe.  It's not just an art/creative writing site-- the art, the writing, the music, whatever medium our members use will simply be the method to capture these elusive and illusive things and draw them into a form of tangibility.

I've been building a web site.  It's not just a web site, but a network, with user account capability.  Our users will be able to build their own blogs/pages on the network.  The main site will be a collective of contributor creativity.  There will still be a forum, in which we can both discuss our dreams and visions that will go into our arts, as well as the metaphysical discussion that began to take root, and just general social discussion.  I'm leaning towards opening a new forum on the main site, because I'd prefer everything to be located on the network, but I discovered I couldn't import a Forumotion forum, so we'd have to start over from scratch in our discussions.  It's been relatively quiet on the forum, so I hope that won't be too much of an issue.

I am going to apply crowdfunding theory to this site.  I will be putting a donate button on the homepage to help fund the site, because at the moment it's on a free server account and I'm not going to have the space for a massive network just yet.  I am also working on a content contributor section which will link to our contributors' pages in the network, as well as putting donate buttons on the site for them so people can support their art (I'll probably have them use their own Paypal accounts for that).

So far, I've been focusing more on getting the networking and other pages set up, and haven't really done much with the front page, but if you guys want to take a look at what I've got thus far and give some input, it would be absolutely lovely.  I've never done this sort of thing before, so any advice you guys have will be welcome!

I've finished this weekend's channeling session with Horus and Bast. The follow-up post is now live.

One thing I'd like to talk about here is developing the Hero's Deck.

As many know who read Tarot or other oracle/wisdom cards, a given deck tends to develop or show a kind of personality as it's used and the reader becomes more familiar with the cards. Thus far the Hero's Deck is showing its to me, and I'm seeing some limitations. Basically, I find that the Hero's Deck is very good for simple readings of one or a few cards, but I'm having trouble finding ways to build multi-card readings from it as one would do with the Tarot. Things like past/present/future don't feel right because of how the deck is structured.

Structure of the Hero's Deck: There are 36 cards in 3 groups: Archetypes, Gifts, and Challenges. Unlike Tarot, where there is a storytelling structure in the Major Arcana and detail-fillers in the Minor which are given story progression via artwork, in this case the Hero's Deck is divided in such a way that three equal groups exist. There is no primary story structure already within it; you are expected to make your own with its tools.

While having specific images might help with this issue I'm having, that would also change the character of the deck, which is intended to inspire images that might be very different from the common interpretation. Artwork also doesn't change the structure of the deck, even if it might make the deck more marketable. (This is a worthy consideration: As a side discussion, do you think the deck would be more valuable with art or without it?)

I'm thinking that a whole new way to perform larger-scale readings than single-issue card draws might be needed. Some new insight to structuring one's readings that fits the Hero's Deck instead of being a copy of the way one might use the Tarot.

Would anyone have insight to share?

Hello all you sleepy peoples! (Ah, August, when we'd all rather nap in the shade.)

I'm holding a channeling session this weekend at my LJ. Theresa can't be with us for it (she has a lot of work right now), but Bast and Horus have generously offered to provide answers to people's questions. I also have the Hero's Deck available, and I'm offering my own insight to boot.

One question of the gods is free, and I and the Deck will answer any number of questions asked during the session. Donations are accepted (via PayPal, or other arrangements can be made), with a donation of $5 or more allowing you to ask a second question of Bast and/or Horus.

The session will go from right now, until this coming Tuesday at 9am, or whenever after that I log in to close it. All questions within that time will be answered, and there will be a follow-up post on my blog with a general reading if anyone is interested in that.

Thank you for reading this post, and thank you in advance to those who participate.

I appreciate those of you who have donated towards the penny flooring for the cafe so far. However, this, which I hope is okay is slightly more personal.

I have several ongoing medical conditions which I've getting treatment for. However, due to those we wracked up a lot of bills, and several of those have been in settlement since August of 2010. We've managed to get a lot of them paid down with the help of a lawyer and an escrow account, but if we can get together funds by the 22nd we can pay off the last one and be free of that. For more of the story my tumblr.

I've been debating if I should try for one of the funding campaign things on one of the sites? I don't think I could put it on kickstarter anyway. :/

So, tarot readings, yes:

If you’d like to purchase a full reading to help me out you can go to Silver Path Website.

The Paypal code but this: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=XBDU3ZV8MKNF8 take you to a “choose your own donation” button.

I’ll work with whatever you can donate, of course the larger the donation the more in depth the reading, and I appreciate anything you can send very much.

Thank you so much and double thank you to anyone who forwards this message, reblogs and helps in that way. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Hey, it's a Free channeling weekend!

What it is: I'm a channel for a Spirit Guide named Theresa, who is a Guide of the Holy Divine. You can ask one question of her, and she will answer through my hands. Any question is valid, though snark may receive snark in return. I can also give readings from the Hero's Deck, a wisdom deck focused on various aspects of heroing and heroism.
Who can play: Anyone! Come on by.
When is this happening? Any questions asked from now until noon EST on Monday the 30th will be answered, though I do have to take time here and there to eat and sleep.
Tips? Yes, please! Asking one question of Theresa is free, and you can ask any number of questions of the Hero's Deck. You can tip any amount you like, but if you tip $5 or more, you may ask a second question of Theresa if you desire.
Examples! Here you go!

The full report is in my journal, but I'll sum up here:

I had over 80 comments total, which is slightly above average from my observations of others' divination sessions. There were several donations, which have gone toward some of my expenses, which makes me happy.

Other than that, I'm getting the impression that I should consider marketing the Hero's Deck as a product for sale, which implies making copies for other people to use, and writing up a booklet for it. And possibly seeking a publisher, if it turns out to be popular in the small-time market.

I'll just follow that with what I mentioned in my journal, which is that while the free post is now closed, Theresa and I are available much of the time if you'd like a paid reading. PM me if you'd like to set one up!

Thanks for reading, and thank you for helping make my project successful!
