Crowdfunding: free+paid model
Jul. 25th, 2015 04:49 pmI'm very much a paddler in the shallow end of crowdfunding - I've run a prompt call about once a year for the past few years, and I run a serial web-novel called Tapestry, which a few lovely people support via Patreon. I've recently been trying to be a bit more serious/useful about it, brushing up my website and my pitches, but I'm looking for outside expertise now. (In addition, a comment with a prompt idea gets 300 words written to it between now and Sunday evening.) What I'd really like is to hear about what people have done that's worked (or not worked), either in terms of audience joy or in terms of revenue.
(I hope this is an appropriate topic! Hello, nice to meet you all.)

Date: 2015-08-02 05:37 am (UTC)I write poetry, mostly based on my Poetry Fishbowl on the first Tuesday of each month. Drop by my LJ on the 4th if you'd like to see it in action. Among my successful activities are linkback perks, where each link reveals a verse of a poem; microfunded epics, where people can fund a big poem a few lines at a time; and half-price sales when I get a backlog in a particular series.
