I tried crowdfunding for the first time this year. I conducted three Icon Days this 2013, inspired by djinni: Icon Day 01 (http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://itsamellama.dreamwidth.org/25226.html) in January, Icon Day 02 (http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://itsamellama.dreamwidth.org/36024.html) in the summer, and Icon Day 03 (http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://itsamellama.dreamwidth.org/47516.html) in October. All in all, I made 56 icons and 1 ACEO :)

Thank you for thinking of me. I wound up taking the story stuff down until I could get it more thoroughly proof read, and because I realized I needed to start it earlier in the timeline of events than I did, so I don't know if that counts?

Projects that were active during 2013 are eligible if at least part of them is visible to the public. You could always repost an excerpt of yours if you get nominated. *sigh* But nomination activity is just about dead this year. I think LJ's spam functions killed it.

Well, in 2013 I started doing writeathons for pay; before that, I'd done a couple very informally, but had never planned anything more. But when housing fell through and my brain fled screaming into the night, it was sink or swim, so I started paddling.

I ended up doing four writeathons, which in total made up thirty-two stories, 26 prompters, 18 sponsors, and over $800 in profits.

I'm pretty proud of that! :D

That's really good for a first year. Seriously: you broke the $500/year threshold that most writers never crack.

Yeah. I'm just starting to realize that. It's so bizarre, because I did everything WRONG. I had only a few fans, no real Internet fame, no beta reader--hell, I couldn't even impress my English teachers as a kid! I don't know how it happened, I just hope I can keep it going with my next writeathon, which I open Feb. 1st. (http://baaing-tree.livejournal.com/553614.html)

I know the feeling.

Maybe it just goes to show that storytelling matters more than technical finesse. Bear in mind that while you may not have a lot of fans at first, some of them like me are heavy-duty barkers who can introduce your work to a lot of new people.
