[identity profile] miintikwa.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crowdfunding
Good morning!

I have been using a crowdfunding model for my semi-monthly One Card Draws for ages. Recently, I had a run in with Paypal due to the use of incentives at various levels of funding.

Because I know there are many of us who use incentives, I wanted to issue a head's up before any of you run into the same issue. Be very wary of using Paypal to accept donations if you crowdfund using incentives.

Thanks, and best of luck in all you do!

THAT STINKS.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm sorry you had to deal with their obnoxiousness. Not cool at all. :(

I hope it doesn't hurt your revenue stream too much. I KNOW what it's like to take a hit like that, and it's scary, frustrating, hurtful, and utterly sucktastitacular.

Oh, no. This really sucks. :( I don't think I've offered any incentives with draws yet, but this is even worse news for people who live outside the US (like me) who don't even really have any alternatives to Paypal.

Thank you for posting about this and I'm so sorry you had to go through this. *hugs*

Oh wow, I'm really sorry you went through this! It is possible to offer non-randomized incentives? Such as "everyone who donates gets a second one-card reading at a later date" or something like that? That way it is not a "gamble" or a "raffle" and the people who donate know that they will be getting an incentive (as opposed to possibly not getting an incentive, if they don't "win" the raffle). Your donations might go up!

Still, that's a terrible thing to have happen!
