They may simply appeal to different people. I've heard similar complaints about Kickstarter being hard to use. I think we're still so early that not all the good ways have been found yet.
It may be so. From a user perspective though, Kickstarter works a lot more like a program you'd run on your computer. IndieGoGo is more like... a website from the 90s. It is missing a lot of functionality that drove me crazy not to have when I switched to it.
