[identity profile] the-borgqueen.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crowdfunding
We've been trying to come up with donation markers for the cafe stuff. I decided just to list various things we might or might not be able to do given there are several different areas of things, but I think that might be too confusing or too many options. So we'll have to narrow things down a bit.

I'm partially posting this because I have no idea what would be appropriate to charge for various things. I have several platforms I can potentially offer the advertising on: the cafe's site and my tarot business site. This means I also have personal, tarot biz and cafe biz facebook pages. As the cafe sites don't have much traffic right now I hoped offering to advertise on the already established pages would be a bit more appealing.

Advertising:
Tweeting about site
Mention on FB page & personal FB
Link only on webiste(s) (MMC & TSP)
Link with small blurb
Mini review/blog post: two-three paragraphs with two-three links

Tea: (some of these are in ?? as we have to price things)
Samples of a few flavors (1-2 cup servings) come with or in t-sacs
Pack of tea (enough for 8-10 pots (24-30 cups)) with t-sacs
Additional packs of tea
Tea balls/strainers/spoons
Mugs with loose tea mesh strainers.
Tea pots with the same.
"Tea for two" gift basket: Three tea packs, two strainer mugs? or just two regular mugs and a tea ball.
Additional gift baskets with more things.
Herbal remedy packets: Echinacea, St. John's Wort, White Willow Bark. Others for eye compresses and such as that.

Bakery:
Cookies,
Brownies,
Biscotti,
Muffins.

Combining tea and bakery things into gift baskets.

I also have the potential for fund-raising incentives from the tarot site.

Tarot:
3-card,
Q&A readings,
Life Area,
Celtic Cross,
Relationship,
Relationship-Conflict,
Past Life,
Six Month/Annual

The tarot readings normally run between $5 and $50 on TSP.

Additional Things:
Candles,
Smudging supplies,
Herbal remedy packets,
Starter Kit: Elemental candles, smudging supplies, incense and/or altar-top cauldron (cauldron would up the value at LEAST $25).

HOWEVER: I'm afraid that this could easily be a case of too many options. So, looking for suggestions of ways to stream line this a bit.

This is purely for online donations at the moment. I need to sort out the other options that had been suggested such as trades with people who are more local

I think I'd make a "tea for one" basket with a plain mug, a tea ball, and one tea pack. "Tea for two" would then have two strainer mugs and two tea packs in different categories (say, one of flavored black tea and one of herbal blend). That way it's not just more stuff, but nicer equipment at the higher level.

I'd say go with an incense burner or simmering potpourri pot. Around here you can get those at various chains of dollar-store. Cauldrons are usually more of an expert's tool; people don't usually buy them until later, and will shop carefully because they're expensive.

Choice paralysis is a real concern, yes. Okay, you've got 5 categories. If you use all 5 in a given fundraiser, only include 2-3 items in each. Then you can use different items in the next fundraiser. Another possibility would be to use some categories for one fundraiser and different ones for the next; although "Tea" will probably need to be in all of them given your core theme.

Try to find ways of connecting specific perks to the current fundraiser. Like if you're funding furniture, that includes tables and chairs, so Tarot readings would be logical. If you're funding dishware, that's a good time to offer a couple different tea baskets with mugs.
