Crowd-funded publishing updates...
Jan. 30th, 2012 01:05 pmHi there! My ongoing serial Nightlights is still running (and has been faithfully since launch). I'm not really sure if it even qualifies as crowd-funded, since it hasn't made me a penny yet (at least via the website). But I thought I'd mention that it was out there. :-)
I also wanted to mention my Debut Novel, Matchbox Girls! My micropress publisher uses a crowd-funded method to handle the print version of the books they release. Thus, there's a Kickstarter set up at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/candlemarkandgleam/print-release-of-matchbox-girls. I made a book trailer for it and everything! The campaign is doing pretty well, partially due to loyal friends and insanely supportive family members.
However, I'd love to see it do even better and get even more word of mouth, not the least because both my housemate and my husband were laid off just before Christmas and I'm expecting a baby in 3 weeks. What was kind of a long-term 'make money someday' plan has suddenly gained a lot more focus as a possible way to stretch out unemployment benefits. Soooo... if you could help me get the word out, that would be great. The novel is getting pretty good reviews so far, if that helps. (CE Murphy of the No Dominion project nominated for a Rose&Bay liked it a lot!) I'm in the process of writing some high-end rewards for the project, and we're close to a stretch goal that would have me writing in-character postcards to contributors. I'm kind of looking forward to that...
So... yeah. Thanks for reading!

It counts if you've set up the business model as crowdfunding.
