We have decided on the timing for the second round of voting for the Fiction category of the Rose and Bay Awards.

Voting for the first round ends on February 28. I will close the poll around midnight, Eastern Time.

Voting on the top 14 nominees will start on March 1 (I will try to put up the new poll the morning of March 1, but I may not be able to do so until after 5:00 PM).

I have contacted all but one of the nominees in the Fiction category by email or LiveJournal Message. Once the second poll is live, I will contact the top 14.

If anyone does know how to reach Jude McLaughlin (aka Dreamwidth user wonder_city), who writes Wonder CIty Stories, I would appreciate it if you could pass along the following message to her. And please encourage her to put an email address somewhere on her Dreamwidth site (I do not have a Dreamwidth account).

Also, as Yasbet mentioned earlier, if creators could PLEASE put email addresses on their work, it would make contacting them so much easier. If I have to follow links to your Deviant Art Page or to a separate author page (as opposed to the page for your webfic) to find your email, it is not easy to contact you.

Subject : You have been nominated for a Rose and Bay Award

Hello,

One of your fiction projects has been nominated for a Rose and Bay Award in the category of Fiction. These awards were created in 2010 to recognize excellence in the area of crowdfunded creativity, as web-based crowdfunded projects are typically not eligible for many awards.

To find out which project was nominated (if you have more than one) or to find out what your fans are saying about your work, please visit the nomination thread at http://community.livejournal.com/crowdfunding/248734.html

We are currently in the first round of voting for the Fiction category. This round will determine the top 14 nominees and runs through February 28, and a second round of voting will start March 1 and run through March 16.

Who can vote? You can, although not for your own project. Fans of your work can definitely vote. You are encouraged to spread the word about the voting. Your fans may find other stories to enjoy by visiting the nomination page.

How to vote? There is a poll on the LiveJournal voting page. If your readers do not have a LiveJournal account, they can still vote. We have had one vote from Facebook - if you are logged into Facebook and open the voting page in a new tab or window and then click "Leave a Comment" you will be able to choose Facebook from the login options and leave a comment with the name of the work or works you wish to vote for (the current poll allows two votes). The same thing is true of Twitter. Your readers can also leave a comment as an anonymous user, however they will need to leave their name with their vote. Finally, in the Fiction category only, I am taking voted by email, at the address listed in the rules.

Where to vote? The voting page is here: http://community.livejournal.com/crowdfunding/259183.html

The Rose and Bay Awards have five other categories : Art, Poetry, Webcomic, Other Project, and Patron (a category to recognize those who support crowdfunded projects). You and your readers are encouraged to vote on the projects and people in those categories (the voting page for Fiction links to the other polls and their nomination pas).

Voting in this first round is open until February 28. The poll will be closed around midnight Eastern Time.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
