Noob here. A friend of mine linked me to this community, after nominating me for a Rose & Bay Award (neat!).

I honestly had no idea what crowdfunding was, until reading a few entries here. Apparently I've been doing it for my 15+ years of writing online fiction, though; between collaborative writing, online volunteer prereaders and editors, and lately offering print books with mixes of free online and paid exclusive content.

I think the #1 issue on my list is, how do I PROMOTE a cyberfunded creative project? Right now I have maybe 50-80 readers, approximate, and only a small portion of those are vocal; the rest only appear in web page stats. The book itself sold about 25 copies. Glad it's on-demand printing.

I'd love to expand my reader base but I don't even know where to start. Crowdfunding is difficult to roll with when you don't have much of a crowd.

That sounds cool. Yes, a few people have been doing this sort of thing long before it became popular.

I think one thing that should be clarified is whether crowdsourcing is a kind of crowdfunding. Opinions, folks?

I'd say it's halfway there, in that crowdsourcing covers the audience interaction part. It still needs some kind of monetizing method to cover the "funding" part.

Kickstarter in other countries?

I have an idea (or three) I'd love to put on Kickstarter, but am unfortunately prevented from doing so because you have to be USAnian to be on there. Just wondering if anyone knows of any KS-like stuff in other countries - especially in my native Australia.
