[identity profile] ellenmillion.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crowdfunding
I have opened my commission-control project up for crowdfunding! Taking a page from the success of creating the Sketch Fest webpage using crowdfunding, I am opening this project up for donations to get the webpage launched.

This site would provide a client-artist connection throughout a commission process, whether the client is looking for a portrait, a bookcover, or a hundred RPG manual illustrations. The site would streamline the process of finding artists, managing payments, recording contracts, tracking sketch approvals and revisions, and high-resolution print file uploads. There are even optional escrow services, making the commission process much less risky for both artist and client.

The site would be free to use - once built! - with extra perks for being a supporter.

I'm looking to raise $450 by February 1 to put this page into service - if we don't hit the $450 cap by that date, the project is scrapped and all donations are refunded. Folks who donate $10 will receive supporter perks for a full year after the project is released from beta testing, and folks who donate $25 or more will receive supporter perks for life.

Is it restricted to artists, or might you consider other types of services? I'd be happy to list myself as a freelance editor.

Given that approach, you should check out Kickstarter. Several folks on this community have used it to fund photography shows, movies, and other projects that need lump-sum fundraising.
