[identity profile] kadiera.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crowdfunding
I'm contemplating beginning a new project that will (hopefully) be crowdfunded - though, interestingly, it's a non-fiction project, so I suppose it may fall outside of the norm, and I guess we'll see how it goes.

I'd like to use a blog for this project. It may eventually have more than one author. I'm not sure what else beyond that - this is a new idea percolating in my head.

Now....I am not planning on getting a domain name for this at the moment, though if it goes well I might. I use blogger for a personal blog, and I've used wordpress on several blogs, but only installed on my own server. I'd prefer to avoid LJ for a variety of reasons. I remember hearing that you can't put advertisements on Wordpress - is that still true?

Does anyone have any good reasons to use one or the other (or some other thing entirely)?

I'm not sure if you can put ads on a Wordpress.com blog, but you can get a blog using Wordpress software elsewhere and put ads on that. My other two blogs are WP and they have ads.

Geeklog is very good for multiple-author stuff.
