[identity profile] avepasifika.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crowdfunding
My curious little friend-for-fiction experiment, [livejournal.com profile] avepasifika, seems to be chuffing along quite well (it's been operational now for about seven weeks). I'm certainly enjoying myself, I'll say that much. I don't really know how to judge how things 'work', but if you've got any questions about friend-for-fictioning, let me know and I'll see if I can answer them.

As usual I have questions and thoughts (beyond just promoting the fact Ave Pasifika has updated with more pirates and more misery, so do join if you like that sort of thing (sad pirates))...

1. I'm considering (in the future) opening things up so that while I'd prefer friending-for-fiction, I could also do other things, like ask for fan art. Has anyone done this? (Did it work? Was the fan art awesome?)

2. How do you deal with triggering parts to your stories? Do you use warnings?

3. If you're based on livejournal, is your livejournal you use for crowdfunding the same as your general livejournal? I currently have three - my writing-for-money journal, my crowdfunding journal, and my real life journal, and I'm wondering if that's the best way to do this. I don't think anyone else does.

4. Would you like me to promote your crowdfunded activity? I would jolly like to, I like to write about whatever I'm reading or looking at, so let me know if you'd like me to link to your fiction.

One way is to count your Friends, since that's your prevailing "donation" mode. If your F-list is sizable and steadily growing, your experiment is working.

That sounds like a good idea. The Crowdsource Tarot turned out tremendously cool; so far fan art has been submitted for several cards, very nifty stuff.

I have occasionally warned people about my poems being intense. I don't usually write about stuff that would be seriously triggery. If I did, I'd probably put a warning over a cut. I do tend to include warnings in book reviews: "This novel features a well-described rape that influences the rest of the plot. People with survivor issues might prefer to skip this book."

Yes.

Hm, the fictional LJs seem to be often separated from the writer's personal or business LJ, but not always. [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar had a separate LJ for [livejournal.com profile] godkin but not for subsequent serials.

I'd love that. I always encourage people to promote my Poetry Fishbowls, and I've started saying I'll post an extra freebie poem if there is at least one new prompter or donor.

It is slowly growing like a slow thing. Hahaha.

Oh good point!

Thanks!

Maybe I'm looking at the stuff of the worng people. My issue has always been that my main livejournal (which gets a ridiculous amount of readers/and significantly less friends hahaha) is sort of crazy and it's different material. But if I had that audience it'd be pretty cool. :/

I've already promoted the Poetry Fishbowls but I think I should probably try and do it next time when it's actually going on. :/

Try reading through the Links list here. There are a handful of long-established writers/projects and some that are quite new. (Plus the art, music, and other projects.)

I suspect that works better if you 1) promote it the day before the Fishbowl, when I post the "fishbowl tomorrow" reminder, or 2) promote it the day of the fishbowl, when you see the "fishbowl open" post on my LJ.

And of course, I would love to see you drop by and give me some prompts!

Thank you!

This is a very good, very clear policy. Thank you for sharing.
