Boot to the Rear
Sep. 16th, 2009 11:36 pmSeveral friends have mentioned that they have thought about trying a crowdfunded project -- but have a hard time getting started, finding ideas, and/or setting a personal deadline rather than working to an external deadline.
What do folks think about setting up some kind of prompt, challenge, or other activity for motivational purposes? I've seen these work pretty well in other contexts. LJ has a "writer's block" service that gives prompts for people to use in writing posts. Broad Universe has "mailing parties" where everyone is encouraged to submit manuscripts and report how many they've mailed. We could probably figure out something for art or other things besides writing, too.

Date: 2009-09-17 05:42 pm (UTC)One possibility, however, would be to designate a particular week each month as "posting party week" or whatnot. (Probably the first or second week, based on what some folks have said about paycheck timing -- later in the month there is less available cash for donations.) People who aren't currently running a regular crowdfunding event would be encouraged to set one for that timeframe, with public applause for posted projects.
