Sep. 6th, 2009 04:53 amRight then. Hello there. Ahem... is this thing on?
My name is Ben, and I write things. Sometimes I put them online, sometimes I do other things with them. If they are online, they can be found here:
www.red-jay.co.uk
Under the appropriate name. Go ahead, have a look. I recommend the prose section (which currently contains a novella) and the poetry section, which contains... several things.
Generally if it's on the internet, it's there because I want it to be free. However, I am quite impoverished. So if you'd like to show your appreciation for anything I've written, I refer you to a little "Donation" button:
http://www.tipjar.350.com/
And the other reason I'm posting here is a mild offer. I'm sort of proposing an experiment. Check out the poetry section of my site, see if you like it. If so, and if you'd like me to write a poem specifically for you, then send an email to warriorverse@googlemail.com. Just give me a subject- one or two words only (e.g. "Pig" "Yellow"), and I'll write a verse about it. In exchange I would sort of expect you to throw me a dollar or two; whatever you can spare. And you can do with your poem whatever you want (as long as you admit that I wrote it).
The idea is to make things a little more interactive for the reader. I don't believe in the lofty Artist in his ivory tower and even if I did, I'm no Artist. And in case you were wondering if this all sounds a little whorish... well, I'm a whore. I wouldn't do this with prose, because you shouldn't tell stories on whims not your own. But I can write poetry on anything. I've told people so. So I really ought to prove it.
If you have a tune, I also do lyrics.
Experiment over, 4am coffee-fueled idea pitch down. We'll see how this goes, I'm sure it could be quiet. If you do send in, please be aware that I reserve the right to be as twisted and unpredictable (or as predictable and cliche) with your suggestions as I feel like. If you hate what I come out with, please take it like a grown up- no abuse and no demands for a resit. How boring would it be if I just did what you expected all the time? Oh, no profanity, please. It's too easy.
I'm looking into future career paths. Dream dealer sounds good.
Welcome!
