Links List Full -- Now What?

This community's Links list is now full, not offering any further blanks for adding new links. :( This highlights again the need for our own site, as we are rapidly outgrowing this one. Meanwhile, some options include: 1) removing links to projects by people who are not members of this community, and/or 2) limiting creators to one link per person (some people currently have links to more than one project of theirs).

Both seem reasonable.

One could put a notice that "more links available on the crowdfunding profile page" assuming, of course, that one can put links into the text there, which should be possible.

If we have too many members to have one link per person, the recently active ones could get priority, but that would require someone to track what's active, and is also, like one link per member, a stopgap measure before we grow bigger still.

Option 2 could also fork into another pair of options - listees could have the option to either list one chosen project, or their own menu of projects.

I think one link per person is reasonable since most people have links to their other projects on each of their projects.

Listing on the profile page is also reasonable.

One thing I am trying to do on my main site is links for people who do stuff I like and admire, but don't feel comfortable promoting themselves here.

You could always do a poll to get a better idea.

It may come to a poll, but I wanted to have an open discussion first, to see what kind of ideas other people might have. I didn't think of listing on the Profile page, but that might work.

Crowdfunding needs its own website, methinks.

If anyone nabs PHP/MySQL capable hosting, I'd be happy to produce a database driven site to make sure links to specific creators can be produced. Building a search tool for that list as well is pretty straightforward.

I'm also still waiting on a web dev thing for a couple of you, so if/when you want me to dive into that, yell.

At least one person has offered site hosting, but I can't recall any details being included about its capabilities. You could scroll through recent discussions of this topic to check, though.

Hmm. It's been a bit more than a month, I think. I'll just secure hosting if you like. Crowdfunding a good name for it?

I suggest something with "crowdfunded creativity" for the domain name, to help distinguish what we're doing from the more finance-related branches of crowdfunding.

We have a volunteer to host the site and a volunteer to (at least start to) code it. What else do we (you) need, if anything, to get this ball rolling?

Hm, a domain name, probably. Something with "crowdfunded creativity" should work.

haikujaguar has talked about doing this, and it's a great idea. However, it doesn't directly settle what to do about the Links list itself.
