Would there be an interest in production of crowdfunding physical items? If such things are produced, what sort of margin, if any, on those items, would be acceptable?

I have a block of time in the next couple days during which I am putting together physical products for a couple other places, and it would be pretty straightforward to do so for this community if there's a desire for it.

Of note: A margin on such a product is the percentage of total cost of a given item that the artist/producer makes on purchase of said product. Anyone who did this and set a margin would make money if the products sold. I tend to think it's useful to have good looking community related things, but am perfectly aware that part of my interest in designing such would be self-interest, and want to be sure that's in keeping with what people here would expect before I invest the time on such products.

If it were a go, I'd then do a followup post asking what sorts of products, product art, and so forth the community would be interested in.

Hmm...

You mean like items with a "Crowdfunding" slogan and/or image on them? I think that would be cool, but I'm too broke to buy much of anything these days.

I know that [livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion has a gallery site going that sells all kinds of stuff.

Popular items tend to include coffee cups, t-shirts, tote bags, magnets and buttons, etc.

I certainly have no objection to it.

Some of the projects that have been proposed for the community might benefit from funding at some point. Might you be open to routing some portion of profits back for community use, if a suitable project manifests?

I admit the offer is so nebulous I'm not sure what to do with it. A product? What kind of product? Toys? T-shirts? Pots? Stereos? *confused*
