[identity profile] haikujaguar.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crowdfunding
I'm trying to decide on a list of tags to standarize for our entries... suggestions are welcome! Here are mine:

New Project Announcement (use this the first time you post about your project, or another project you've found elsewhere).
Project Updated (for any updates you want to talk about later)

Resources (for things we might find useful)
In the News (for links about crowdfunding/creativity external to us)
Icons and Graphics

Networking (obvious, I think)
Questions (for consulting the LJ mind about something you want to figure out)
Polls (for entries that include polls)

What else? What tags can you see yourself clicking on to answer a need? What needs would you have?

Also, as you can see we've managed our rename! Huzzah! Please take note for future linking.

When a person introduces a project, I think we should also add a specific tag for their project name so that they can then tag all subsequent project updates with their specific project name as well as "project updated." That way, when someone's looking for information on a specific project they may have been introduced to via our community, it'll be less frustrating to find all posts related to that project.

Hmm...

I'm not sure that's a good idea. It would make it easier to find particular projects, but it would also make the tag list HUGE. Big tag lists are hard to use because people can't easily find what they're looking for.

Instead, new projects are put into the Links list if people want them there. You can click on a project to see what's up with it.

I don't think a longer tag list is necessarily harder to navigate-- everything's alphabetized. Also, looking at the number of links we have on the sidebar there, I don't think it would make the tag list exponentially bigger right now.

You can click on the project to see what's up with it, of course, but what if there's been some interesting discussion here in our community? What if that's what a person hopes to easily find and revisit?

Thanks for handling the renaming process!

That's a promising list of tags.

I think I'd suggest "New Project" instead of "New Project Announcement" since the tag column is only so wide and long tags are harder to read.

"Project Update" would probably be more intuitive than "Project Updated." (If we miss on any of these, we'll get near-duplicates as people write what they think or what they thought they remembered.)

"Resources" is good.

We already have a "News" tag, which is shorter than "In the News" and alphabetically in a more findable place.

"Icons and Graphics" could replace "Icons" as a logical expansion.

"Networking" we already have.

"Questions" is a good addition.

We already have "Poll" which I think is more intuitive than "Polls" since they're likely to be posted one at a time.
