Thank you for acknowledging the anniversary of our independence.

I just happened to realize I know so very little of celebratory days of Southeast Asia. I know Lunar New Year and am slightly aware of some others, but lacking in knowledge of the history of an area that has such a rich culture. We Americans are so egocentric we expect everyone else to know our history but we do not return the favor. And, if our story is to be as encompassing as we want it, I need to correct that lack.

Take care of your daughter. I was so very glad to hear that she is doing much better and it was not your worst fear. The story and your readers will wait while you take care of the more important concerns of your life.

Our own 'independence day' falls on the 9th of August, since we became an independent nation, after leaving Malaysia in 1965. Singapore is relatively young.
