A New Idea in Funding Epic Poems
Jul. 2nd, 2009 07:40 pmToday I wrote an epic-length science fiction poem, "The Sky-Eyes and the Earth-Hearts," about two sentient species who live together, one similar to butterflies and the other similar to ants. It was inspired by an article I found yesterday about Large Blue butterflies and their weird relationship with red ants.
Since several people expressed strong intereste in the storyline, I made the poem available for sponsorship and posted the first two verses as a teaser. Then it occurred to me that a long poem might gain more attention if I posted it in pieces, verse by verse, as the sponsorships came in. So far I've gotten one donation, so I rounded up a bit and posted the third verse.
This is the first time I've tried posting something piece-by-piece. We're hoping that enough people will be interested to fund the whole thing. I encourage other cyberfunded creativity fans to drop by and watch what happens, or fund a verse if you feel like it. If this works, it can go on the list of CFC variations for people to try.
