Thank you for your input on my poll! (http://ellenmillion.livejournal.com/876189.html) It's not too late to weigh in, but the results have been fairly steady, and I thought you'd like to know what I've discovered so far.
Question:
How do you feel about teasers in with public access material?
3/4 of the polled said they would '...feel a little frustrated, but would read/view what I could and enjoy it anyway,' 1/4 said that seeing teasers would probably prompt them to buy a subscription. None said they would find teasers offputting enough to stay away from the site and no one said they wouldn't notice one way or the other.
Which of the following perks tend to make you want to pay extra for an otherwise free service?
'Turning off Advertising' swept the polls.
Tied behind that were 'Extra downloads (wallpapers, PDF collections)' and 'A discount on merchandise.'
Clustered close behind those, in descending order, were 'Knowing that you can allot your fees to specific contributors,' 'Extra material (More fiction, poetry and art),' 'Free advertising,' and 'A tangible free gift (a bookmark or print, for example).'
Trailing far behind were 'Acknowledgment (maybe with a link?),' 'Bigger thumbnails' and 'Access to supporter-only forums and chat opportunities.'
