Service Call: What can you do?
Nov. 2nd, 2008 09:52 amCyberfunded creativity often entails bartering or buying services from other people to cover things that you can't do yourself. Where a traditional business model may provide a writer with an editor and a cover artist, an artist with a framer, a musician with a recording tech, and everyone with publicity, etc. -- our model is more do-it-yourself or find someone yourself. So it's helpful to know what your friends and colleagues can do that you might need done someday, and to share what you can do with people who might need your skills.
What can you do?
I'm a freelance wordsmith skilled in both writing and editing. I can compose press releases, text ads, blurbs, etc. on the businessy side or fiction, nonfiction, and poetry on the creative side. I can write a summary or outline from a long manuscript. I can do various depths of editing and proofreading and commentary. *chuckle* And I can design languages, cultures, and other worldbuilding delights.

Date: 2008-11-02 05:23 pm (UTC)I'm good at verse, and can usually pound an idea into a sonnet of better or worse quality. I don't know why sonnets, it just is.
I can provide technical advice in some scientific areas, especially geology and geophysics. Self-educated in history, especially of the World Wars era. Know my aircraft and firearms. I can tell you why you should never do the Agatha Christie "He pressed the safety catch on his revolver," but in case you really need to have that happen I can tell you of a revolver that actually had one.
