Cyberfunded creativity often entails bartering or buying services from other people to cover things that you can't do yourself. Where a traditional business model may provide a writer with an editor and a cover artist, an artist with a framer, a musician with a recording tech, and everyone with publicity, etc. -- our model is more do-it-yourself or find someone yourself. So it's helpful to know what your friends and colleagues can do that you might need done someday, and to share what you can do with people who might need your skills.

What can you do?

I'm a freelance wordsmith skilled in both writing and editing. I can compose press releases, text ads, blurbs, etc. on the businessy side or fiction, nonfiction, and poetry on the creative side. I can write a summary or outline from a long manuscript. I can do various depths of editing and proofreading and commentary. *chuckle* And I can design languages, cultures, and other worldbuilding delights.

I have a 1" button machine, and some access to a 2.25" button machine. Hoping to get a 1.5" machine in the near future. =)

I can do much of what you do, which isn't going to be that much use to you. But that's to be expected, isn't it? This is a community of people with similar interests, after all.

I'm good at verse, and can usually pound an idea into a sonnet of better or worse quality. I don't know why sonnets, it just is.

I can provide technical advice in some scientific areas, especially geology and geophysics. Self-educated in history, especially of the World Wars era. Know my aircraft and firearms. I can tell you why you should never do the Agatha Christie "He pressed the safety catch on his revolver," but in case you really need to have that happen I can tell you of a revolver that actually had one.

I can do most creative things competently, and some quite well. I can "translate" between two people who both speak English - between poets and engineers, for instance, finding words that the speaker recognizes as meaning what they said but that make sense to the listener as well; I can find plot holes and suggest ways to fix them.; I can write (fiction and essays and poetry and songs) and paint and sew, do soft-sculpture, play several musical instruments and sing. I'm good with grammar. I can organize huge stacks of papers into whatever logical categories are useful (despite which, my house is disorganized, since no one pays me to organize the house, and I never have enough time after work for creative things). I can put furniture together, make dream-catchers, make jewelry or doll clothes or human clothes. I can embroider and quilt. I can research things. I can cook. I can clean, but hate it, in part because it sets off my allergies and who wants to do something that makes you sick? I can garden.
