... for mentioning this! I'm not doing NaNoWriMo myself, but I'd be interested in hearing who is.
CFC options that occur to me...
1) Post a description of your project on Nov. 1 with a donation button.
2) Post a weekly report of your progress, including a current word count, and include a donation button in that post.
3) Invite people to "pledge" some amount per word or page, up to the official goal is 50,000 words or 175 pages. So you might have someone pledge $.001/word (total of $50 if you cap out) or $.20/page (total of $35) etc.
4) Post a final summary of your project with a donation button.
5) Post whatever your output is each day. You might make this available to everyone, if you just want to write a novel in a month and share it with people. Alternatively, make it available only in a locked filter, and sell subscriptions to that at a set price.
6) If you get stuck, ask your audience for help.
7) Write a fictionalized version of your donors into your novel.
8) Ask people to cheer you on, or nag you, or whatever form of encouragement or slave-driving you find most effective.
I wasn't going to do NaNo, but, ebonypearl pointed out the NaNoRebels forum.
I'll be writing a short story or poem each day during the month of November. It might add up to 50K or it might not. I'm looking for audience prompts to help me get going. I'm debating adding a donate button or tying it to charity to help encourage me.
It will be interesting to see what you come up with for short stories and poems. If you do add a donation button, please let us know so we can keep an eye on your project, and provide a summary at the end of the month.
I'm not sure about the linking, but that sounds like a good idea to me. I am a first timer on Nanowrimo myself. I did see that they have a community here on LJ, and they have their own website. In the end, I'm hoping to get the novel published. (So hopeful...:) ).
Thank you...
