Hi all! I am new to the idea of crowdfunding, from the person-being-funded side of things. I'm very new to this community and please just let me know if I do this wrong. :-)
I've been in fandom for over 20 years, writing under as zortified,
gilascave, and
james.
In the past I've done fanfic for charities, and for over a decade I've been involved in knitting and sewing for charity and recently I've opened a patreon to combine the two. That is, the patreon is to help fund my crafting for charity and in return people get fiction as thank you rewards. At certain levels, patrons can request a handmade fabric bag as a reward as well.
(I have an etsy as well, but I don't know if it's the sort of thing that should be listed here? If it's okay to link, just ask in the comments and I'll point you.)
But my crowdfunding project is my patreon site, to help me make knitted items and fabric bags and drawstring backpacks for foster and homeless kids and teens in the San Francisco area. Donors who give as little as $1 a month get to read the resulting fanfic pieces, and donors of $5 or more get to provide prompts.
Thank you!
