Name of Day: Wren Starling's One Card Draw! LJ mirror (original at DW)
Description of Service: Comment and I will pull a card for you from my original, unique bird oracle deck. If you are facing a choice, the cards may help point in the most positive direction for you. You may request an overall card to meditate upon. You might want a card to let you know what new thing may come into your life in the near future, or what is the most important thing facing you at this time. You may ask a specific question and we will see if the universal subconscious can answer it for you. However you use this opportunity, I hope it will be helpful!
Who is Eligible: Anyone and everyone is welcome!
Date/Time Window: Today, for the next 24 hours; I will stop readings in the evening and pick up people who requested overnight in the morning!
Tipping? Yes, please! There is also a treat for people who spread the word!
Examples: Last month's draw!

I've posted a Mid-month mini-giraffe-call poll (LJ); right now, it appears that the 4th-5th of February is the clear winner for date choice.

Would people be interested in watching me livewrite for some period of time during that call?

The "which 'verse?" section right now appears to be settled on Aunt Family, by a 2-point lead over Reiassan or Dragons next door. I'll close that on Friday, just because it's already swung twice.

In the meantime, looking further ahead, I posted "Pretty Icons," (LJ) a discussion on possible February Giraffe Themes based on [personal profile] dhamphir's free icons (Hey, that's how I picked October's Call!).

The theme I suggested was "wine and roses:" it seems wide enough to allow for entirely non-romance-based prompts while still being a bit seasonal (Mind you, the call will be on the 18th, so a little late anyway). What do people think of this? Too close to the dreaded holiday?

(mods, can I get a "call-for-prompts" or "giraffecall" tag? Cheers).

Chapter Four has been posted! As always, you can find it both via Dreamwidth and Livejournal.

I hope to have Chapter Five out for either Saturday or Sunday. In this chapter, we're teased a new character, as well as see a little more of Sarah and Kyril. Next chapter, learn what Hunter's been up to since answering the phone call.

As always, you can read the current and previous chapters at the Main Landing Page.

Comments, feedback, signal boosts welcomed! Tips appreciated.

I wanted to make a crowdfunding-project related blog entry at the start of the month, so I'd like to know: Does anybody (besides Lyn) have and art or writing related projects scheduled for February?
Edited to add: I'm looking something with a firm date, or at least something like "around the second weekend".

unrelated: Is anybody here active on devianart? (I'm at http://ankewehner.deviantart.com/)

Pirate Bay offers the Promo Bay, where you can get your free stuff promoted in several countries.  For those of you who feel that copyright has outlived its usefulness and that information should be free, here's a chance to put your products where your morals are.

I'll be keeping an eye out to see if any new hits, bestsellers, superstars, etc. emerge from this exercise in alternative distribution.

Here is some art for you to use in promoting the 2012 Rose and Bay Awards!  [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar created the logo, with which [livejournal.com profile] karen_wehrstein has created a batch of LJ icons, blog badges, buttons, and banners.

LJ icons
A set of 100x100 graphics in different color patterns to show up well against various backgrounds, these may be used as LJ icons or as small blog/website badges to promote the Rose and Bay Awards.  The first one is the "official" LJ icon for the Rose & Bay Awards, to make it easier to identify posts on this topic.  Anyone may use these to raise awareness of the award.

Buttons
These are tiny graphics that you can use as buttons in posts, sidebars, or other places where there isn't room for a bigger graphic or you don't think it would look good.  They promote the Rose and Bay Awards in general.  Anyone may use these.

Banners
These are BIG graphics for people to use in promoting the Rose and Bay Awards generally.  They can be placed as stationary graphics or used in "rotating banner" applications that will show images from a specific set.  Anyone may use these.

Nominee Badges
If (and only if) you are a Nominee, you may display your category's Nominee badge on your website, blog, or other venue.

The Arkh Project is building a video game featuring queer people and people of color as characters and designers. It has met the first funding goal for character design and is extending that campaign goal to keep the momentum going. JOB CREATOR!

This is a credible threat to the whitewashed gaming industry. Consequently someone complained about the campaign being discriminatory because it aimed to hire queer people and people of color. I find it very frustrating when advantaged people try to butt in to the very few places that are focused on less advantaged people.

If you are similarly displeased by this attack on job creation in the queer/chromatic community, consider protesting with a donation and/or signal boost for the Arkh Project. Let's make it clear that hiring project-relevant experts, and putting jobs into areas where people often can't find jobs, is a GOOD thing.

ETA:  Image has been uploaded to Zazzle and ImageKind.  Also, the orders for contributor prints have been put in with Zazzle.

"Frozen" is now complete!

Tomorrow, I will be uploading to Zazzle so I can send out photo prints to the lovely people who contributed to this project.  I will also upload it to ImageKind, so it will be available on a variety of professional-quality prints as well, including canvas prints.  This project is half funded; when fully funded, it will be made available to the public as a free download, and all contributors will receive a complimentary mini photo print if they wish.

Thank you to everyone for your support and enthusiasm!  Click the image to go to my blog post and see a larger detail crop.
