Wonder City Stories update
Jan. 17th, 2012 09:08 amHi, all!
My web serial Wonder City Stories is up to episode 85 for volume 2, and we've got about 6 episodes till the end of this story arc. I'm wrapping up some loose ends, but there's still important character development to come. So if you haven't checked in lately, this is a good time to catch up!
For new folks, Wonder City Stories is about postmodern superheroes who leave their spandex at the gym. I started writing it because I was tired of all my comic books being full of straight white boys, so my characters include women, POCs, queer people, elderly people, and disabled people. It's a world whose version of "Superman" is a short, round, middle-aged black woman and whose "Captain America" is a homeless veteran living out of her van.
If you want to see if you like the world and my writing without wading into the serial, I suggest the short story, "Truth, Lady Justice, and the American Way". It's got a different narrative voice than the serial, but it will give you a taste.
