We have decided on the timing for the second round of voting for the Fiction category of the Rose and Bay Awards.

Voting for the first round ends on February 28. I will close the poll around midnight, Eastern Time.

Voting on the top 14 nominees will start on March 1 (I will try to put up the new poll the morning of March 1, but I may not be able to do so until after 5:00 PM).

I have contacted all but one of the nominees in the Fiction category by email or LiveJournal Message. Once the second poll is live, I will contact the top 14.

If anyone does know how to reach Jude McLaughlin (aka Dreamwidth user wonder_city), who writes Wonder CIty Stories, I would appreciate it if you could pass along the following message to her. And please encourage her to put an email address somewhere on her Dreamwidth site (I do not have a Dreamwidth account).

Also, as Yasbet mentioned earlier, if creators could PLEASE put email addresses on their work, it would make contacting them so much easier. If I have to follow links to your Deviant Art Page or to a separate author page (as opposed to the page for your webfic) to find your email, it is not easy to contact you.

The Rose & Bay Awards honor excellence in crowdfunding.  If you're new to this project, please visit the 2011 landing page for more details.

[EDIT 2/7/11: All the Nominee badges are now available.]

[livejournal.com profile] karen_wehrstein has updated the artwork for the Rose & Bay Awards.  *applause*  Here are the 2011 badges for Nominees in the Fiction and Patron categories.  Handlers, you may want to notify your nominees that these are now available; it's not required but will help encourage participation.

If (and only if) you are a Nominee, you may display the Nominee badge for your category on your website, blog, or other venue.  Other folks may use the general artwork (including icons, buttons, and banners) on the 2011 art page to promote the Rose & Bay Awards.

I've sold another batch of snow photos to [livejournal.com profile] xjenavivex.  If you live in a warm area but need visual references for snowy fields or trees, you might find these useful.  I kind of shot them as a kickback for friends who pipe me images of Florida and New Zealand.

I have a stack of stories in varying stages of completion for Torn World.  One of these, "The Sky Rangers," is already sponsored by [livejournal.com profile] xjenavivex so it will be visible to the public eventually.

[livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion has recently done a major overhaul of the main site for Torn World, our science fantasy shared-world project.  It is crowdfunded by supporter subscriptions and by sponsorships of the fiction and artwork.  Here are some highlights...

The "Start Here" material for new readers now appears near the top of the lefthand sidebar.  (If you have been intrigued by my Torn World posts but haven't visited the site yet, seriously: start on that page.  Otherwise you will probably get lost and I'll have to send the rangers to scoop you out of the snow...)  Other menu items have also been reorganized in hopes of making them easier to find.  Links have been checked, made more visible, or updated as necessary.  If you want to write or draw in Torn World, move on to the contributor introduction and guidelines.

You might also enjoy the "Take a Tour" page.  It lists all the story tours available that link stories within a single story arc or ones that have something else in common.  There's a tour for the recently added stories about the great fire of Itadesh.

If you're wondering who all the characters are, you can look them up on the "Characters" page.  Each character has an entry with their description, any illustrations, stories in which they appear, etc.  Characters may be adoptable, owned (the owner will be named), or non-adoptable; that information appears at the top.

Can you think of anything that would make the site more user-friendly, more attractive, or otherwise better?  Feedback is welcome!  We can't do everything at once but we will note requests, discuss possibilities, and do our best.
