This month's prompts came with an early surge and then a few later. The fishbowl started late because our Internet connection was out in the morning, but we managed to get someone to fix it that day. I started at 1:30 PM and continued until midnight; accounting for lunch and supper breaks, that's 9 1/2 hours. I wrote a total of 18 poems, mostly medium; there were a few short poems and only one epic-length poem. All of the poems this time were free verse except for one acrostic. Some used two or more prompts, others only one.

This time, 11 people sent prompts; but alas, there were no new prompters. (Those of you who are spreading the word about the fishbowls, please don't be discouraged and please do continue: repetition is the foundation of successful promotion.) There were 39 comments including mine.

The following fishbowl poems have been published:
"Life Beyond Life"
"The Meaning of the Chain"
"Mother and Child(ren)"

There is no generally sponsored poetry poll planned as yet; so far the only donations have sponsored individual poems.

This month's donors include: [livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion, [livejournal.com profile] talix18, and [livejournal.com profile] minorarchitect. So far there are no first-time donors. I'll get a donor perk-post written presently.

The permanent landing page for this project is here.

http://www.fluffy-seme.net/blogs/entry/Promoting-Your-Story is a blog entry evaluating different ways to self-promote your story, including discussions of twitter, stumbleupon, facebook ads, some other specific options, and "crossposting".

Unsurprisingly, they note that it helps to be clever when you tweet!

They also mention some services I wasn't aware of, and some of their evaluation methods (like watching how quickly someone bounces away from their site as well as how many hits they get) were interesting.

Looks like the time's come.

Domain names!  Domain names for a cyberfunded / crowdfunded creativity website, to augment this LJ community.

Discuss. :)

Thinking about existing writers' organizations (and artists') and how they don't really extend help to people crowd-sponsoring their work has made me wonder what an organization for people like us would do. Besides, say, have a website with a roster of projects (yes, I've had a plan for a while).

So, what would entice you to join a CC association? What services would you like?

Here are some ideas, drawn from what existing organizations do:

• Awards
• Magazines/Publications with relevant articles
• Directories of Members
• Websites
• Discussion forums
• Blogs
• Legal Advice/access to legal counsel
• Emergency funds
• Special parties/sponsored events at conventions
• Tables at conventions
• PR databases
• Podcasts
• Mentoring programs

That's off the top of my head. But tell me what you need. And what you could care less about. And what's missing from this list.
