The first installment of my four-part series "Cyberfunded Creativity" is up at EMG-Zine. "What Is Cyberfunded Creativity?" introduces the history and meaning of the term, along with the advantages and disadvantages of this business model.

EMG-Zine itself practices cyberfunded creativity: like several other webzines, they offer readers the option of sponsoring particular contributors. The magazine then splits donations with the writers and artists who provide the content. An additional perk is that a sponsorship of $10 or more entitles the sponsor to a banner ad in the following month.

Strange Horizons is holding a fund drive. This reader-supported webzine publishes some very innovative speculative fiction and poetry. Donated prizes go into a drawing to encourage monetary donations. *wink* If you don't have a copy of The Aphorisms of Kherishdar yet, that's one of the prizes!

EDIT 6/3/08: My poem "Dancing With Stones" has been accepted for publication in Strange Horizons. I have offered a papercraft copy of the poem as a prize for the fundraiser. This will be printed on decorative paper, suitable for framing or putting in a scrapbook.

Please drop by and consider chipping in.
