I have five novels, seven and a half short story collections, and a poetry collection in progress. (Yikes.) I want—it's not a 'need' yet, not till I have a complete draft of at least one of the thirteen point five book-sized projects—a good editor, and I'm a bit scared to ask for someone who does structural edits but I think I am going to need such a person. I'll worry about line edits and copy edits later. I also want—same caveat—a good cover artist. Depending on the prices the editor and cover artist charge, I may find myself relying on Kickstarter for the money, and Kickstarter may of course fall through, so I can't guarantee that anybody's getting work out of this request. But I'm hoping.
The projects I want finished soonest are Left Allemande, a short story collection where the stories have the common theme 'square dance[rs]', and Leah Far-Sighted, the first novel in the Blow Your Trumpet Gabriel quartet: the one-sentence summary of Leah is "One sister succumbs when attacked by the supernatural, one flees, and two learn to fight." The project likely to be finished soonest, if it ever stops growing, is Self-Rescuing Princess, a short story collection of retold fairy tales with a feminist slant.

That is a lot!

Well, you've got things in the right order: structure first, then polishing. I do freelance editing and there are some other folks in the community who do too. Ideally, check several people's prices and services to see what seems like a fit for you.

That's a good plan. I've seen it work for other projects. Figure out a budget and then fundraise with that in mind.

Oh, I love that! I am a big fan of self-rescuing princesses.
I've poked at a bunch of the community tags, and the only person I can find who does structural editing is, uh, you. (Assuming I am reading your Definitions of Services page correctly.) This makes it hard to compare, you know? Found a couple copyeditors, but I'm not worrying about copyediting yet. It would be helpful (assuming it's easily doable) if there were a comm sticky post with links to, oh, that 2011 cover-artist call, various people who do editing...
I shouldn't be worrying about structural editing yet, really, and certainly not cover art. Not till I have at least a first draft.

Sorry about that. I thought there were more, but I'm more alert to "editing" than the exact type thereof.

Yes, I can do structural editing.

Another option would be to post a message calling for editors, when you reach the stage of needing one.

Not something I have time for, alas. My main effort at helping people find each other has been the recurring posts where I ask what folks can do or need done. I agree that it would be helpful to have a more easily searchable listing somehow.
