My Patreon page.
I am giving this a shot to see how it works. So far, I am pretty fond of it. It's easy to subscribe to others, and I like that it allows you to have a public and private stream going. I will be updating every two weeks with something new, and, when I get patrons, I will be updating once a week, alternating between stories I will lock to only patrons and stories I will let everyone see.
If anyone is interested, I will also write up a post on DW about my experience with Patreon. Like I said, so far it's pretty good.
Also, although I mention that I am only taking prompts from people who donate, this will not be the case on DW. I will do monthly prompt posts with an alternate reward system on here, cause you lot are awesome and I love you.
The prompt post can be found here
The short version of the system? Leave a prompt, get a three paragraph sample, donate $2 or more and get the full story emailed to you. I will also be willing to feature something you do or want me to talk about on my journal, not just as a passing signal boost but as a proper post in itself.

Wow!
Date: 2013-07-03 07:27 am (UTC)Yes, please! I am intrigued by this service, having not seen Patreon before. Ideally, I'd like a preliminary writeup now, as you are beginning this project; and another some time later after you've had more experience and have refined your opinion of it.
Re: Wow!
Date: 2013-07-03 07:31 am (UTC)So far, it seems like a neat service. Not many people seem to be on it though. I need to poke around more and see but it seems like something that could very well be used as a tool for those who feel awkward using Kickstarter to fund ongoing projects.

We can help by spreading the word. It'll work better with more folks involved.

Yes, I've been waiting for someone to build a site for regular projects. Kickstarter and all the other hub sites that I've seen are designed for one-shot projects. But many of the crowdfunders I know are doing something monthly or thereabouts.
