Crowdfunding Patrons:  What are some of your recent donations?  What projects have you supported by boosting the signal or other methods?  What kind of material would you like to see that isn't appearing or is very scarce?

I recently donated to anke's sketches and djinni's art; I'm most likely to buy art, more than supporting other fiction (although I try to throw some money at other fiction or poetry calls at least a few times a year.

I signal boost everything I see, when I can. Calls for prompts, calls for art, all of meeks's story sketches (the incentive helps there!)

I am a big fan of character or costume art and have budgeted monthly $$ for that this year.

I've been funding wrenstarling's one card draws, but otherwise I've been quiet on the funding front lately. I'm hoping to get back into it when my own art starts yielding a bit more of a profit again (since that leaves me spare funds to support others).

As for things I'd like to see; mostly I like to fund unique projects that I don't see around (like a deck of bird cards for example), or very personal interest projects (like Matt Pryor's album May Day). I'd love to see more crowdfunding for things like mineral make-up, where someone wants to create a range of mineral eyeshadows (for example) and possibly offers a random colour from the collection once it's completed, or something similar. Mineral make-up by small businesses seems like it could really benefit from the interactivity of crowdfunding.

I've donated to aldersprig's fiction and ariestess's Tarot draws. The former because I love her fiction and always want more of it, the latter because I found my one card draw very interesting and insightful and wanted more detail. I've supported a few other similar projects (fiction and card draws) by boosting the signal.

I've been thinking that it would be really neat to see a crowdfunded astrology project--perhaps some basic information for free, and more of a chart available for different levels of donations.

Most of my support has to be signal boosting because of our tight budget.

I think this is a great idea! There are some things that just don't appear in a newspaper horoscope. I've passed along this suggestion to some folks I know who are into astrology.

Yeah, our budget is tight so most of what I make crowdfunding goes into things like gasoline and toilet paper, or utility bills. But in a good month, I can squeeze out a few dollars to support a favorite project.

Wow, I would never have thought of makeup as being a creative endeavor! But when I stop to consider it, inventing recipes is creative, and makeup is kind of like paint. Sure, why not.

It's especially like that for indie mineral make-up producers, who release lines of colour based on Pokemon starters, The Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, Sailor Moon etc. An example of a really great themed indie make-up producer is here:

Most of these folks frequently run blogs and have competitions and stuff, but I'm sure to release an entirely new line of colours it isn't cheap, and to crowdfund the projects would be lovely. Something like that for start-up Perfume companies (akin to BPAL and so on) would really benefit from it too, imho. I would absolutely crowdfund projects where I could vote towards scents I'd be most likely to wear.

I think I donate more for art than fiction too, because with art you often get a piece colored that way. I've done djinni and meeks. I've also bought fiction from kajones_writing.

I'll boost the signal for almost anything, as a one-shot or occasionally. Then there are several projects where I boost every update I see: your Giraffe Call, Story Sketches, moonvoice's totems and other art. I might not have much cash but I make a good barker.

Essential oil blends would definitely work as a creative product. *grin* I did some oils and incense for a contest that a friend ran for her book, years ago. That was so much fun.

Do you know any of the folks creating mineral makeup or other stuff like that? You could invite them to drop by here. I'd love to have more different types of projects.

As soon as I saw your original comment, I went upstairs and asked if he'd be interested. He said he'd think it over. Today we were out shopping, and we talked about possibilities in the car. So there you have it. This will take a while to assemble the various materials and get to a live session, but it's in progress and interested folks can go pitch in to help it develop.

This the one of the cool things about crowdfunding -- the chance to pass along ideas to someone else who can use them.

I think that webbed projects like meeks' Story Sketches are terrific for connecting separate audience pools so that people are more likely to travel from one project to another. I love that.
