Project Funding suggestions
Feb. 3rd, 2012 04:20 pmThis is not (yet) a please, please give money BUT I seem to remember reading somewhere about places that were like Kickstarter but weren't Kickstarter (as in would at least release partial funding) and I've been going through the archives here for at least a half hour and haven't found the listings of them.
I'm trying to research about funding options before going and consulting with our local SCORE office about business plans and start-up. We're inheriting some money which would be a nice kick-off point. Another family friend has tentatively offered to also put funds in. Though hers came with the caveat that I work with another friend. I was a bit leery given previous friends who got in on business side of things; but this is a friend who makes wonderful pies, cakes and pastries, which would really go with a tea shop, like, well, a cafe actually ;)
We have people locally who participate in NaNo and have writer's meet-ups who would love to have a place to natter and novelize at least once a month, more so during November, and when I was at market so many people wanted to sit down and just pay for the teas to drink then and there which I wasn't legally allowed to do, rather than buy them. So, that would really open up that avenue. Here, yes, buy a cup of the tea and have a pastry, then, if you like it buy a whole bunch of it.
So, just trying to get ducks in a row here.
I would definitely would want to get on the whole donate a certain amount get x teas, mix your own blends, little packages of tea-sachets and flavors and tea balls and things like that for certain donation levels or alternately I suppose, cookies, cupcakes, or these sinfully delicious brownie things she makes. She does very nifty birthday cakes having made my son a dragon, a Thomas the tank engine and a McQueen from "Cars" before, but I really don't think those would be options except for very local people as they don't always travel well and absolutely would not ship.

Either way, do it! The world needs more awesome beautiful projects!

That's a good idea. I am still interested in possibilities for crowdfunded tea blends.
