Ships of Our Own Making
Jul. 6th, 2009 01:03 pmIt's taken me awhile to post here about this, in part because I'm shy about posting off of my own journal about my projects.
I'm doing a serial crowdfunded YA novel called The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. (Plot possibly apparent from title--a young girl named September is spirited away to Fairyland, where she meets Wyverns, witches, and a wicked Marquess.) It started out as a way to help keep us afloat, as my partner has been out of work since January, and has taken on a life of its own. The whole story is here.
It's been very successful so far, but now it's passing into the adolescent phase after the initial excitement and into the meaty-ness of the novel. Please do take a look, read a chapter or two, see if you like it. New chapters arrive every Monday, along with lots of little extras like icons, art inspired by the book, audio author's commentary, and an audiobook-style recording of each chapter. There's a fan community over at

Thanks guys!
