PART 1 of THE CITY series: CUBISM IS SO SUPERANNUATED
George Cuvier is the legendary superhero Iguanodon, his normal alter-ego being the rich lackadaisical man who wears couture because it's proper and lets his butler keep a bear around because it's easier not to argue. As Iguanodon he is in a constant heroic struggle against the villainous Carnivora, this manipulative evil-doer who seems to steal signatures from everyone and never develops his own schtick.

But of course, Carnivora's alter-ego is really Étienne Hilaire, Cuvier's best friend from childhood. And of course, instead of bad-guying it up all the time he tends to spend manic bursts of energy mooning over Cuvier and pestering him for a reaction.

Cuvier doesn't really care if his arch-enemy isn't dedicated. He isn't dedicated either. He'd rather collect collections from other government mandated Supers than tromp out to get another bus thrown at his head.

Regardless of all this, they're both rather popular. Little boys adore Iguanodon! Girls shriek at the name of Carnivora! So when the Mayor of The City, Paul, is mysteriously in absentia and trouble by way of Alternate Universes, rogue tech from the University, and poor citizens sprouting tentacles from their eye sockets start to happen, the two men have to get involved. Despite their adamant disinterest.

Humorously slanted and full of every sci-fi/fantasy trope there is with the intent of playing it straight, this is a story about doing your job, dealing with the repercussions, and possibly developing a concoction that takes care of the tentacles problem. (WITHOUT driving the hosts of said tentacles mad during, please and thank you.)

The campaign for Cubism is so Superannuated is on-going, and the end goal is still off in the distance somewhere. Wandering around. Ignoring the deadline at the end of the month and muttering to itself.

If superheroes, tropes, poking fun at art history and paleontology and magma wombats are something you might enjoy, please have a look at the campaign and possibly tell your friends about it! Getting the word out is fairly important at this point (...actually, it's always been important, but let me pretend) and my friends are pretty much tapped out now. Help! Spread the word! Tweet about it!

And as always, if you've got a dollar or two to spare, and you want to see this book edited and out with your name attached in the acknowledgements, please chuck them at the campaign. You can throw as hard as you want to. It won't hurt it. I think.

(please note: there's still one death left on the perks list. if being horribly destroyed by a fictional character is your thing, you might want to check it out!)

I'm intending to have the final product out, ready for consumption sometime this September, so the monies will definitely help keep that goal in the "possible" range.

Thank you!

Hello, all!  I thought I would come and re-introduce myself.

I used to run the [livejournal.com profile] shadows_gallery blog, in which I held various artistic events and projects.  I ended up leaving for a housekeeping job in California, living in a place with no reliable internet connection.  Then I ended up in the hospital for about a month and came back to Texas after my release to recover.  My art blog got flooded with spam within all of that.

So, after a break from the crowdfunding aspect of my art, I've decided to make an effort to consolidate my art and personal blogs.  I'm considering the best way to pick up the crowdfunding again, but right now I'm mostly just creating art and finding ways to get it seen.

I thought I'd share my latest piece, Trickster.  (It's for sale as a print here on Society6)

Click for the full size.  (Mild nudity, so might not be work safe)

I hope everyone has been well!  Feel free to add my blog here and chat with me in comments or whatnot.  I'm going to make this particular blog a little less formal, more personal and relaxed, while still keeping a strong artistic side to it.
