"Into the Fire will be an experiment in distribution. You have probably heard of crowd funding. Projects get funded by a lot of people who give a little money to make it happen. We are crowd sourcing our distribution: A lot of people will be releasing Into the Fire together with us. On 21st April 2013 they will embed the film on their blogs and websites. With every participant the size of the audience will grow exponentially. This is a film about refugees and migrants in Greece faced not only with the economic crisis on top of a dysfunctional sylum system, but also rising and often murderous racist attacks. The filmmakers didn't want to waste time going through traditional routes for film distribution, but felt the topic was so important now that the film has to be released immediately.
So they are trying something new: Instead of asking for money, they ask for "airtime" on everyone's blogs and websites. They are trying to get as many websites and blogs and any kind of online spaces to participate in the distribution and put the film up on the same day. They are releasing an international version which already has an impressive list of languages, all translated by volunteers.

Synopsis from the press pack:
"Greece is in crisis. But the economic crisis is not the only one. An asylum crisis has gripped the country at this time of severe austerity. And it hits the most vulnerable: Refugees, including minors, who have left everything behind fleeing their countries to find safety. "In Greece, they are left destitute and on the streets, unable to apply for asylum and threatened by escalating racist attacks. Trapped in Greece, they have one message for Europe and the rest of the world: Let us leave!
