Following in the footsteps of several other successful writers, I am raising money for the physical copy of Spots the Space Marine via Kickstarter. It's been an interesting experience prepping the project for that website, and hope to have something interesting to say about the experience in three weeks. :)

And if you're so inclined, share the URL, or join the backers! Because we need more military science fiction for old, rickety people, girly girls and moms, minorities and people who love aliens. :)

My Monday started off crappy as usual, then I saw the Diesel Sweeties' Kickstarter and decided that I must have a Red Robot thumb drive with all the comics on it.

I need $32$15 in my paypal account to do that. I asked my friends (thanks!) first, but I decided to go ahead and open it up to you guys, too.

What would you like me to do for you in exchange for a donation?

I can write you a poem. I can write you a mini-fiction (see Heartclasp at the previous link) of some sort. I can do a bird oracle reading for you. I can create a photoshopped art piece for you.

Pick something, tell me what you want and how much you can fund me (I'm thinking around 5-8 for a poem and 7-10 for short fiction or art, but I'm flexible) and I will tell you if I think I can give you what you want! Open till I get the funds I need or tomorrowWednesday, whichever comes first!

Thankyouverymuch!

The next Crowdfunding Creative Jam will run from Saturday, February 18-Sunday, February 19 with a theme of "alternative sexualities / QUILTBAG." Everyone is welcome to leave prompts or claim prompts for writing/art/whatever. Are you tired of all straight creative arts? Want to poke the Romance Writers Association in the eye? Bring your muse and/or a bit of spending money this weekend!

March will be "National Music in Our Schools Month," which is the closest I could find to a general music-related month.  This is a good opportunity to plan ahead if you are thinking about launching a musical crowdfunding project.  You can also recommend musical projects that you support as a fan or patron.  Feel free to comment here with your ideas or questions.

This week, I'm going to be implementing some changes to Free Sketch Day. Namely, that it will be running two days instead of one, and there will be loads of tip incentives both collectively and individually. As such, I will be shifting Discounted Character Portrait Day to Thursday only.

I currently have three crowdfunding projects open.  Click any of the thumbnails to go to the landing page and see larger images.

Now, for the schedule:

MONDAY

* No events, but at the end of the day I will post any updates to works in progress.  (edit:  Had a bit of a disaster in the house today, so nothing got done today on the artwork, but I will post an update as soon as possible)

TUESDAY 10 a.m.- WEDNESDAY 10 p.m.:

*The new, re-vamped Free Sketch Day is now a two day event! Drop by and leave your one word prompts. As always, there is no obligation to pay for sketches, but there are now tip threshold incentives that include multiple sketches, digitally inked sketches, and color sketches for everyone. Individual tippers also get incentives in the form of various sized prints and high res downloads. (U.S. shipping only at this time, sorry.  I just can't afford international rates.)

THURSDAY 10 a.m.- 10 p.m.:

*Discounted Character Art Day. Come leave your detailed description of your original role playing or fictional character, and I will create a portrait at a highly discounted rate, within approximately a week. Portraits start at $5.

FRIDAY 6 p.m.:

*Tutorial-- Drawing hair.

This is a once-a-week post, so be sure to check [livejournal.com profile] shadows_gallery now and again for updates or add it to your friend feeds so you don't miss anything!
