The knitting pattern for Arta's mitts is up at Ravelry in the Intimate Knitting of the Greater Kingdom group! Very simple pattern. The picture is here at LJ further down in my journal. It's also the current voting incentive. While you're there, vote for the Gulch as well! TopWebFiction.com is a good source of traffic for me, so every vote you can give me helps.

On the site this week: the first part of Two Pairs of Mitts, which debuted at Ravelry and was last week's voting incentive. A sample:

Arta turned the skein round and round in her hands. Kath had spun it "in the grease"--flicked to remove bits of straw and burrs, but still covered in lanolin--and then washed it; the method gave the yarn a characteristic, soft, fuzzy appearance. Kath hadn't stopped to sort out the locks by color, and so the yarn varied from pure white to a decided cream. Nor was there very much of it. Arta sighed. "Well, she did as nice a job with the spinnin as one could expect, I suppose. She's only eight. And there's enough here for a pair of mitts." She sighed again. It looked so homespun! Some day, when she and Fen were married, perhaps they'd have money for store-boughten yarn, or maybe, maybe even store-boughten mitts! "Now wouldn that be a luxury, Letty--store-boughten mitts!"

And last but not least, the latest installment of Scryer's Gulch, Episode 10 "A Jailbird":

An echo of his name penetrated through the back wall of the office from the alley, and the anxious Georgie said, "Look, you gonna let me hide here or what?"

"Stay put, short pint," said Simon with a quelling look. Georgie sat down meekly on the floor next to Simon's workbench, and his brother returned to the front of the office to his work.

"Georgie!" called Mrs Prake through the back streets of town. "Georgie, you come back here! Sheriff Runnels wants to talk to you!"

John swallowed an exasperated breath, but now that she'd said it, he called, "Georgie! You're not in trouble, son, I just want to talk to you! That's all!"

And that's all from me! Oh--except I dyed my hair burgundy. I'll have pix soon!
