Yesterday's Poetry Fishbowl was interesting on several counts. I wrote a total of 11 poems, on the lowish side -- but more of them than usual were rhymed, metered pieces, including several ballads. At least 10 people provided prompts. There were 26 comments total on the main fishbowl post, including my replies.

There were another 16 on the separate post for the freebie poem, "Sir Rosalind Rides," which proved hugely popular. Check out the illustration contributed by [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar! (It has been suggested that this poem would make an excellent song or animation. I'm open to the possibility if anyone is interested in developing either.) So that turned out very well.

Another interesting point is that almost all the poems were inspired by solitary prompts, rather than pairs or trios. I suspect this is due to the topic: many of the prompts were based on historical personages or events, so they tended to be self-contained. Most of them had a serious or even cautionary note, although I did get one very light-hearted piece, "The Tree Cozy."

So far I have made a total of $22 on this fishbowl. Two people have promised to send contributions on Monday, one of whom is also contemplating a scrapbook page, which would be another first if it comes together. Current sponsors of the April fishbowl are: [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar, [livejournal.com profile] arielstarshadow, and [livejournal.com profile] janetmiles. (If you're planning to send a donation or buy something related to this fishbowl, please let me know when you do that, so I can add you to the "Donors" filter. Then you'll be able to see the perk post.) I'll be uploading the perk post for the sponsors soon. Thank you all for your generosity.

[livejournal.com profile] endlesssearch06 is the first known person to model a fishbowl off mine, in this case trawling for fiction prompts. I was hoping this would happen, and am duly pleased. If anyone else does likewise, please let me know and I'll link to your fishbowl too.

Thanks to the audience at large for some great inspiration. You're a treasure.
