Hi there
We are trying to promote Rue16, a new anonymous social network.This is a place where you can create new blogs, communities, magazines, albums, diaries, sketches etc. Whatever your creativity guides you to create will hopefully have a place there, if you help us build the community to support it.
You get to control exactly who sees your posts. Choose friends based on common interests. Share pictures, videos and ideas with others who think just like you knowing that your material is your property and yours alone. Allow yourself to be whoever you really are without having to conform to the sometimes constricting expectations of your real life.
Our website is now open and accepting beta testers. Join us and become one of the first founding members of rue 16, a virtual network for a virtual you.

Thank you for your interest in finding out more about us. In answer to your question I wouldn't say that Rue16 is different than any other social network out there, but it is more comprehensive.
We have done extensive research into what users dislike about the facilities -or lack of them- offered by other places and created a platform that we believe will cover most members' needs.
Rue16 can be used like a Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, Flicker or even Devian Art account. It can be used like a Journal, a blog, an album, an art-book, you name it. It also allows you to make your profile as close to or as far removed from your RL persona as you wish it to be. You can post in PDF format, create communities, e-magazines, newsletters and any other form of group-oriented activities that users may be able to dream up.
It allows you to post from your cell and to moderate both who comments on your posts and who gets access to them. You can even set up an account to be literally invisible, so that only those who know it exists and have been granted access to it will be able to see it.
All material in your account belongs exclusively to you, so there are no privacy issues. You can even lock in your posts and send a key-invitation out to whoever you may wish to grant the ability to view your content. These keys can be set to expire within one click, one day, week or month depending on the options you pick. They can be delivered through direct e-mail invitation to anyone, regardless of whether your recipient is a member of our network or not. We believe that this particular facility will be useful for people wishing to venture into things like e-publishing or delivering banner/art/photo e-sales directly to clients on a paid-for basis.
Rue16 is free. All accounts are equal and will have the same facilities. This platform has the potential to become a very useful tool for social networking if we manage to develop the community base necessary for it to be successful.
We are now open for beta testing and all accounts created during this period will be considered Founding Accounts, which means they will get to test all future upgrades while they are still on beta, therefore allowing their owners to have a more hands on knowledge of what's coming up and giving them the ability to either veto new additions or help us fine tune them so that they will be more useful to everyone when we finally open them to all accounts.

Rue16 is not ad-supported at the moment, since we are attempting to build up traffic. We've just opened up the site and are currently a bit too thin on members to appeal to anyone looking to place their ads with us. But yes, we hope to be able to find revenue through ads as soon as our community builds up.
