Intro and help?

Hi! I'm Kitrona, I write a little and do tarot readings, and someone suggested that I check this community out, mostly because my husband also writes and has been out of work since April. I read through some of it, including the comm info, but I'm confused about how exactly one gets from where I am to what you're doing. Anyone willing to offer advice or help or whatever?

A little more about me: I'm a stay at home disabled mom, although I haven't qualified for disability, but that's another subject completely. I have a very energetic boy who's almost 4, and a great husband (say hi, [livejournal.com profile] saintes!) who writes, draws, does Chinese martial arts, and debates on YouTube when he's not looking for a job and taking care of the family. I don't know what else to say, so I'll just end here, although I will note that I'm pretty open to questions. :) Thank you!

Welcome!

I can help with questions, yes. I do crowdfunded poetry myself and also enjoy following various art, divination, and writing projects by my friends.

If you look at the "Memories" file here, you'll find a lot of good advice on getting started. You might also like the Crowdfunding section on my website, starting with "How to Begin a Crowdfunding Project (http://penultimateproductions.weebly.com/how-to-begin-a-crowdfunded-project.html)."

It looks like we have some other interests in common too. Feel free to drop by my LJ and browse around if you wish.

Memories are here:

The "how to"section will probably be the most useful for you currently.

I guess it helps to ask.... what's your goal? You mentioned getting to "what you're doing," so it would be a good starting point to define that. :)

The short answer: jump! Find a model you like the looks of and give it a shot. Be patient and flexible, because immediate success is rare, and see what methods other people are using that you can adapt to your personal strengths and goals.

That's my 2 cents.

As to how to get started--you start.

Read what you can here, think about what you can do consistently and quickly, pick a model, and start.

Try a few different things, and expand on what works for you and your readers. It takes time to build an audience, so pick work that you love, so you have a motive to continue in addition to money.

And if I may ask a favor, please share what you try and how it works with us. Most of us are still exploring the best ways to do this too.

You're welcome--both here in this community and for my thoughts.
