Some of you may remember this post, wherein I announced that I was creating a collaborative painting with everyone on
therebirthofme which would, upon its completion, be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to Haiti relief. People were invited to suggest a object, item, mythical or historic figure to a sketch I began, and, as
ysabetwordsmith put it, it quickly became "a synthesis of people's compassion and creativity... We are thinking about what makes Haiti a special place, what it means to us, and putting those images into this painting. We are thinking about what makes people strong, and loving, and caring ... putting those images into this painting. So it's becoming a kind of cultural monument that embodies this moment in time, the disaster, our response to it, all taken inside the artist and alloyed together to create this painting."
If only I had unlimited space to include everyone's ideas...
I am sad to say that Real Life got in the way for a bit, and I needed to sit this aside. But I have since returned to the project, which is almost complete. You can see it as it progresses here.
