Tastemakers will absolutely arise, just as they have for things like blogs. This whole bitching and moaning about "oh, we'll all have to plow through the slush pile" rings false to me, as false as "oh you poor gullible authors, don't fall for self-publishing!" It sounds less like concern for readers and writers, and more like fear.
