Part of writing is to explore things from other people's experience. You learn how to do it better. You also learn how to research it and pick out usable details.
If you build a good audience, by the way, they will help you. I've had people give me amazingly intimate details about disabilities and oppressions that I had never encountered, and really make a difference. Talk to people. Let them know you're interested in learning new stuff. It usually works.
